I didn't know the twin towers incident happened in 1998 because that's when the I.R.A declared a ceasefire, and they rarely committed any terrorist attacks around that time anyway, plus Sinn Fein were now at this stage recognised as a legitimate party so they were allowed to carry out their own fundraising legally and not rely on any other money from suspicious doners.

The IRA were not the only people carrying out murders and bombs, there were many loyalist organisations too, lvf, uvf, uda etc etc etc not to mention the sas and the british army teaming up with some of these to commit murders too.

They didn't fully decomission until 2005 - as soon as the yanks declared their 'worldwide war on terror' the IRA publicly stated that they would never wage terror again.

Yup - loads of loyalist and British army scumbags who murdered women and children also.

it's funny how a st. patricks day thread turns into american bashing....let it be!!

yeah we do sometimes make fun of american people trying to be irish, but to be honest bundangbabo, it's not limited to americans, we do like to have a laugh at the plastic paddys in lancashire too....at least the americans actually like and support ireland, the english are number 1 english and don't really care about Ireland ( i know this cos i have a lot of cousins in manchester and their parents and grand parents are irish but they are english and support england)

The americans like being irish, let them be it and i reckon there are many more irish catholics in boston than there would be in lancashire, just think of the numbers of people over there in america.......i think at least 300 people from my town have moved over there in the past 15 years, and my town has only 2,200 people in it!!

No-one gives a shite what you think - It is funny you laugh at us even though you all still emigrate to Liverpool and Manchester to find work, watch the football and visit your relatives! Funny how you all support Liverpool and Manchester United, funny how 1 in 5 people in London is of Irish descent and half of the populations of Liverpool and Manchester are of Irish descent. Why is this? Osmosis or because you had to leave your country to find work? and what is it you're doing over in korea?? volunteering your services to teaching becuase you have made your millions through the large amount of high paying jobs in the north of england...or did you get a good pay out from the mines??So stick your 'plastic paddy' jibe up your arse - those people are as Irish as you - except they don't make such a big deal about it! If Ireland is so great - there wouldn't be so many Irish people around the globe!

isn't this prosperous area you speak of in liverpool and manchester one of the poorest most unemployed places in the u.k?? hardly an ideal pace for us to be moving over to live in now is it?

yes we go and watch football in england, what's wrong with that? if it wasn't for manchester united the tourism in manchester would be a zero cos there would be bloody all ese to do there.

and if you are wondering why so many people left ireland, it was a simple matter of the famine in the 1850's not helped by the governement of the u.k at the time either.

you were the one who called the americans plastic paddys first when you said we all made fun of them, i'm just letting you know it's no different for everyone else. I seriously doubt 2nd or 3rd generation irish people in england are as irish as people who actually live here, they don't have a grasp of our culture or heritage or even our way of life...how many of them can speak more than 5 words of irish??

That's right - you won't catch me saying how brillant England is or making a big song about St Georges day (Or even St Davids day!) Laughing

It didn't stop you settling there for over 200 years - even today I know loads of Irish people so they are still coming despite the high unempolyment rates.

when someone moves somewhere and has kids and their kids have kids, then it's very rare for the next lot to just upsticks and move back somewhere they know nobody, we have quite a few english people living in ireland now, I think they come for the higher wages so they can send it home to the north of england to help support their families. Very Happy

Why would a patriotic Irishman like you support an English team? Whats wrong with supporting Cork City? St Pats Ath? Home Farm? Why are the Irish the biggest glory hunters on the planet? Also - if it wasn't for the 'plastic paddies' of Liverpool, London, Manchester and Glasgow - there would have been no world cup in 1990 and 1994 - ole ole ole! Razz

I support man utd and they are the only team I follow. how is it any more patriotic for me to support cork city when i don't live there, home farm who I don't even think have a senior team, and are no where near where I live and st pats are in dublin....once again, I'm not!! my local team are a div 4 junior junior junior junior team!! I think steve mcclaren applied for the position of manager but got turned down so he took the england role instead Cool We still have players from england and scotland on our team, aidan mcgeedy for example...but England wouldn't know about taking players from other countries, you just selected fine naturally talented englishmen for the world cup.....like john barnes Razz

You are joking - it is 'the venice of the north' more to do in Manchester than in any crappy city in Ireland!

There is nothing to do in manchester, don't get me wrong, i like the place but it is kind of boring outside of shopping and watchin the football!!

as you said, we were a 3rd world country, we needed the work.....it's better than sitting on the dole or going on the jeremy kyle show to talk about how much of an idiot you are. I'm guessing you moved to korea to get away from all of the job offers youwere receiving

do you honestly think the u.s would bother it's ass coming over to ireland?? we serve no threat to their national security, plus think of the votes the president would lose...clinto got elected on the irish vote for god sake.

who would the american army fight when they come over here?? seamus and sean sitting in a living room watchin gaelic football and talking about how they would love to see thatcher hung drawn and quartered in the middle of croke park??..............hardly!!

the decomissioning took place, but how do you think the ira makes bombs......they still have that available to them, where there are cows there is fertiliser and so the ira have what they need for a quick fix!!

the loyalists still haven't fully decomission yet and i haven't seen one american fighter pilot hovering over east belfast ready to drop bombs, so i guess things are fine here.

Oh and i didn't try and big ireland up to be a great place in my posts, you will note that i have only defeded it from that idiot john_esl_white who called it the tarilor park of western europe or something along those lines!!

Higher wages - higher cost of living - over a euro for a loaf of bread - you can keep it! Cool

Why do you support Manchester United if you aren't from there? Even if your local team are crap - support them! At least you and the Koreans have common ground with your glory hunting ways! Laughing

I like to travel mate, unlike my Irish bretheren - I like my travel to be more exotic than a 5 hour journey on the B and I ferry from Dublin to Liverpool.

somethings maybe more expensive, but when you consider graduates in the north of ireland are getting paid about 12-16k a year and we get paid at least 26k i would prefer to spend and extra 20cent on bread.....(however, i live on the border so i shop in the north, hard to beat 15% vat and that cheap bread you talk about)

I supported united through the 80's, i don't know if you recall those days, but there wasn't much glory to hunt. If i wantedc to be very irish i wouldn't watch football, i would only support my county in gaelic (which i do support too) but i'm not....i support an english football team cos it's a better level of football, same way i watch the americans play american football, not the irish teams....I'm not totally patriotic that I can see places that are better than Ireland....i'm just proud to be irish and don't like idiots like "john wheres my lucky charms esl white"

Cascarino's mum was adopted, she legally has irish status, and it got passed to him......we didn't have enough talented players from ireland during that time to make a good team...most people played gaelic football or hurling.

Free is my favourite word Cool ....... but i'm very whipped by my g.f of 4 1/2 years, so whipped in fact that she doesn't even let me sleep wth other women...... i know, it's desperate!!

have you ever gone anywhere in the world and not spotted an irishman??? no, me neither, and it pi$$es me right off that i can't get away from them for one minute!! oh and i usually fly over to the games ( i know, how civilised of me to use aviation....but i believe it's the future Laughing )

most people should be able to speak it....not fluently, but at a good enough level, the only reason the can't is because they are not the smartest of people. of course we would have a lot more irish speakers if we weren't invaded, opressed for hundreds of years, and killed for speaking irish, playing irish sports, or gathering in large groups (not that i'm bitter)

okay if the sheep shagging comment was meant for ireland then, when you make comments of a stereotypical nature you would be doing well to pay attention to the country the simpsons are making fun out of when you want to do it................the sheep shaggin culture is associated with wales and to a lesser extent, scotland!! we don't get the whole sheep shaggin thing, mostly cos we don't have a great deal of sheep!!

(i'm sure even bundang would back me up on that)

if the sheep shaggin comment was aimed at the australians then you're an even bigger fool, it's new zealand that is famous for sheep / lamb not australia....too much desert there for sheep to settle in!!

Perhaps now that you are in such a developed country like korea, they could teach you a little about geography, since you obviously didn't get any education in it when you were back in the good old u s of a

once again, you have proved just how much of an idiot you are!!
