I am an F4 visa holder, non UK resident for tax purposes ,here in Korea currently and thinking about working freelance/independent contractor here from now on which I believe will mean I will have to do a self assessment tax return/declare taxes each year in Korea to the Korean Government as i am non UK resident now?

Having never had to do this before, is it quite a straight forward process? Is it every April/May for when you do your taxes like back home? I assume it's a case of keeping all your receipts from PT jobs etc? Apologies for the cluelessness! No idea about this kind of thing having not done this before having always worked full time and having the schools automatically do it. With freelance I guess I have to do this myself so just trying to get some info on this subject.

The best advice seems to be to get an accountant. I don't have experience of it myself, but common sense (backed up by what is essentially hearsay) should tell you that they know the tax laws much better than you do, and will probably save you more than they will cost, both in terms of their fee, and the time spent trying to negotiate the Korean tax laws (time that could be spent earning).
