I basically have two favourites; one I eat often, and the other, unfortunately not often enough because I can't find it in Busan.
1) Doegi-guk-bap, which I lived on for months after I first arrived here because I loved it so much.
2) Andong Gym-dak, which is about the spiciest thing I've ever eaten in the ROK, but it's too big a meal for just one person. |
Try buldalk. That dish is pure fire at times. Mine is 돼지고기 수육 (boiled pork slices) and 냉면 (cold buckwheat noodles in broth with an egg and garnishes). Good all year round. |
There is a place close to The Woodstock in Shinchon that serves an awesome buldock. There was always a huge line up and at least a twenty minute wait. When you finally get in you can order the spicy hot chicken with a nice cold beer.
I'm a big fan of Gochujang Samgyup sal. |

| I agree with mostly everyone on here so far. One of my most awesome faves is chung gook jang. It's like dwen jang but really stinky. Not for those with weak noses. Might have a bowl after school now |

추어탕: Choo Eo Tang. Choo Eos are "mudfish", or "loaches". I'm not a big fan of fishy soup, but with Choo Eos they shove em into the blender and put it on liquify. The result is a nice thick broth that is quite not-fishy tasting. The slightly spicy (알큰추어탕) version is really nice.

This stuff is pretty good. Maybe I fit the wayguk stereotype but I've had bowl of this that made sweat buckets it was that spicy (and I have eaten some damn spicy food). Good stuff. |
