I have a rule in my classrooms that my students know well. No singing So Nyeo Shi Dae.
It's really my only rule based on specifics. The other rules of my class are standard, do your best work, don't insult/hurt Teacher or other students, don't talk out of turn, cause disruptions etc etc. Yet, despite these general rules , I found I needed to make one specifically for singing So Nyeo Shi Dae, because for whatever reason, my students can't resist singing "gee gee gee gee baby baby baby." Whenever one student starts belting out this oh-so-annoying song, I can often depend on another student to quip, "No So Nyeo Shi Dae!!!"
Has anyone else here had to enact similar rules? |

Really?
These kids probably work their asses off 10+ hours a day. If belting out a bar of whatever song you're talking about gives them something to smile about in what amounts to, probably, the only social atmosphere they have, let them do it.

Bring your wrath upon that which dissatisfies you.
Forget the 'kids will be kids' attitude. Especially Korean kids could do without the nonstop coddling.
Contrary to Kimberly nationalist belief, along with deadly fans, these kids are not all princes and princesses. |

The kids in my area are definitely not coddled. Most spend from around 6-midnight in their hagwons, working their little butts off. Not exactly prince/princess material. |

I was referring to the coddling by this current wave of hippies from Canadia
who seem to be enamored with the strong work ethic and diligence of the overworked darlings.
Get over yourself. You're not doing them any favors. |

My classroom isn't a social atmosphere, it's a learning atmosphere.
That aside, the only common public school practice I've banned in my hakwon is pencil tapping. |
