We let a class watch the baseball game today. Everything was great until I started rooting for Japan. We damn near had a riot in class. It was hilarious, sometimes I love my job! |

Yes, same here. We were watching part of the game and then returned to it in the bottom of the 9th when class bell rang. On my way out I said..."Go Japan!!!" They yelled/screamed/and laughed. |

5th block marked the first time we've ever used class time to watch baseball. I let a middle school class finish watching the ninth inning before turning the TV off. Then my co-teacher slipped out to the staff room to watch the 10th. |

You guys are the same guys that would be pretty pissed off during the SuperBowl/World Cup etc, if some @SS just decided to root for the opposing team just to piss off the locals.
You are that guy who has no interest in baseball or either of the teams and roots for the opposition while the Red Sox are playing in the World Series, while sitting in a bar in downtown Boston. He's not cool, he's a dipshit. |

Yes, everyone knows that if you're not rooting for the Red Sox, you're a dipshit.
Red Sox fans are easily the rudest, most ignorant out there. |

I actually didn't know that (although a pretty broad generalisation), I was making a point about rooting for the opposing team because you because it will piss people off. I could have said, "a neutral fan wouldn't root for Liverpool while watching from a pub in Manchester" or "a neutral fan wouldn't root for the All Blacks while watching at a pub in Cape Town" but you get the point. |

OP,
For your next lesson, you should have them write an English essay on why Dokdo is Japanese territory. |

No, he's just telling the truth of the matter.
Next thing you know, you'll advise to me say "Korea" out of pity when some poor sap boldly asks me which country I like the most. |

3 of my classes were cancelled today (for other, unrelated reasons) and my remaining class decided to stay in their homeroom to watch the game. So I've had nothing to do all day; thanks WBC.
Of course, then I had to explain to the other teachers why America couldn't care less about the WBC while everyone in this school except me was glued to a TV watching. It's not that I don't care, it's that the tv they gave me was not equipped with cable... |

I just said over and over " oh no not Ichiro" when he was a bat and that got me many death stares. |

I know this--Ichiro's the greatest singles hitter in baseball history, and surely you walk him versus letting him beat you?
On a slightly more serious note, I let my high school boys watch baseball, and yelled and screamed with them. I lose one lesson but get more kids on my side--good tradeoff.
Besides, I had a comedic routine I was using the last couple of days, saying how thankful I was that the US lost so I wouldn't have to choose.
one thousand of you rooting for korea..one teacher for the us--you all would KILL me (gesturing like a boxer) *grins*

How do you know this? Maybe we're subversives who have our own minds and are too intelligent to believe that another person's accomplishments has any relationship to ourselves?
Idiot. |
