I was wondering if i needed an ARC card to send money home from my bank (KB)
My arc card expires on april 10th - and i plan on coming back to Korea on a tourist visa so i will not have it anymore. Does anyone know if i can just use my Passport to send money home? |

As long as you can prove that you made the money legally in Korea, it should not be a problem. However, photocopy everything, including your ARC card. Also, consider opening an account with electronic remittance. I believe KEB has one called a 'Global Account.'
BTW, the quick and dirty is to mail travellers checks home and have your mom sign them  That's what a lot of folks do.

| The first time you wish to do an international transfer, you need an ARC, after that it will no longer be necessary. |

You may be asked for it again, as well as your passport , in addition
to verifiable proof (apostilled) that you are not a criminal.
My bank Nonghyup was not to pleased when I refused to do this. |

Well you got me Urban. I suppose the intentional embellishment was not obvious. I was only trying to strike fear into the heart of the OP. It was meant to dually represent the non-sensical �requirements� that a teller at my bank was asking for, in order to perform what should have been a routine transfer.
That said, my last visit to Nonghyup did result in me refusing to give her my ARC card (politely). I forgot my secret code on internet banking and got locked out of the system. I visited the branch and asked to reset my password. I handed her my passport and she was looking perplexed while looking at the screen and my passport. She thumbed through my passport examining the pages, which really pissed me off.
This went on for 15 minutes, I kid you not. I asked what she was looking for. She wanted to know what my job was. I said it didn�t matter, just reset my password. She then asked me for my ARC card. I asked why, as she has my account on the screen and my passport. She said that it expired. I said yes it has, now please reset my password�.. Long story short, I said just manually transfer the money, and I took back my passport and refused to give it and my ARC card to her�..got my transfer after close to 50 minutes �yes I hate banks. |

Apologies, I should have been more helpful to the OP.
OP, my bank has both my passport and ARC number. When I went to the
bank to make a transfer/reset my password she could neither see past the
expiry date on my ARC or her inability to discern my occupation. She could not tell me why she needed
to know these things and refused to speak to the Nonghyup translator to have official
policy explained to me in English.
She had my passport and my account info. on the screen I was adamant (politely)
that she transfer my money. I asked her what happens when my ARC expires ?
Does Nonghyup take my money ? I have done all sorts of banking with
the �expired� ARC card up to that point, so why is it a problem now ?
She couldn�t or didn�t want to answer. Long story short� I got my transfer and she
never got to see my new ARC until after I got my transfer.
Banks differ by the branch and teller it seems. Good luck, my guess is your passport is adequate. |

It's a card, when you bend it, it looks like an arc 
No, actually, it's an Alien Registration Card (foreigner card). |
