Hi, Ok, everytime I switch on my laptop I get this AVG notice saying " free updates for AVG 7.5 will end april 14 you must upgrade to 8.5" i got something similar last year and ignored it and it was fine but this one seems a bit more serious as the notice is bigger LOL...anyway i've tried downloading the "free" 8.5 but then my l/top always freezes....any ideas or should I just ignore it again....also someone told me about a another programme ( adware?) if I decide to use this should I remove my AVG 7.5 FIRST...thanks... |

Uninstall avg 7.5.
Go to the AVG website and download the latest version 8.0.238 (just do a google search for AVG free.)
Install. |

I dont use any anti virus software, its too luxury for my low-setting computer.
I am in a local area network, the firewall built there might work, I actually only got warning several times when I visited Dave's, once any virus was detected, the network will shut down for 10 min at my place.
I know lots of people who let their computers do a streaking.

I switched to Avira myself, had too many problems with AVG after a while (although it used to be the best). Avira has a pop up once each day when it updates, but it never tells you that you have to update or buy anything. |

Try Avast. It's not bad, and the Home edition is free. Just remember to do scans every week. It's not horrible on resources. |
