Hello. I am probably shipping out in August to magical Korea to give this teaching thing a try. I am just curious if its possible to catch NBA games in Seoul or Busan? I know its an American sport and all, but if there are other NBA fans and places to watch, that would be nice.

I am a die hard Portland Trailblazer fan,... and well, you may disagree, but we are a team on the rise... ah, hell,... it appears in a year or two we may make a run... biased fan opinion of course... and I'd hate to miss playoff games while I am away...

Actually I guess this question goes for NFL, MLB, and NHL...

I lived in Holland for a while and there were a few expat bars that you could catch most sports (NCAA was impossible).

thanks!

actually random side note, I just remember that we (Portland) had a Korean on our team for like half a season.... Ha was his name. God he was awful, I am gonna look into to him to see if he's around. I wonder if Koreans know of him even. He was lik the anti-Yao... He was GAINT, but when he played, it looked like he had never played bball before....

watching them on the net is always a plus, but I feel like a loser watching sporting events alone on a laptop drinking beer... so I was sorta asking if there was a social setting as well... internet feeds are a great fall back, but you gotta have some bro down goin on as well. In my opinion that is.

Yeah he's in the KBL and is way bigger than any of the foreign players. He still needs to develop his skills but if he progresses he should have no problem dominating the league.

Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon shows NFL MNF games on Tuesday nights. That's the most I've heard regarding sports being shown at bars in this whole stinking country. NBA may be too much to ask.

so does that mean my students now have proof that playing basketball and jumping actually does make you taller?

As an avid NBA fan myself, I've just decided to get a sling box. Basically, what it does is hook itself up to a cable box/DVR/etc at a home location (for me, in the states) and allows you to watch from anywhere in the world what that home location watches/records.

I know you want to be able to watch games at the bar and not on your laptop, but if you are like me, I'll do next to anything to watch my Magic play. They might seem a bit pricey to some (200ish), but can be used to watch your favorite TV shows/sporting events/movies, etc from back home.

Apparently, and those who have been to china can confirm it, the mandarin (I think) word for "there" or "look" is pronounced nee-ga and when said a lot it sounds like our favorite racial slur. Before I left Canada I had a coworker who had to go to China on an emergency business trip. They were watching an NBA game and it was basically non-stop nee-ga, nee-ga, nee-ga while they were pointing at all the black basketball players running around. he said he had to get up and leave he couldn't take it.

Maybe I'm missing something but what's the benefit of all this over using torrents to watch tv shows and paying a smaller fee for the league pass or watching stuff for free online?
