Greetings all. There's a good chance that I may be departing for Korea in late April, or early May to teach at Gwangmyeong Dong Elementary school. This will be my first time teaching overseas and I was wondering if there's anyone on the forum residing in Gwangmyeong city that I can make contact with? I just want to be on the safe side and have some folks around if I need any help, to hang out with, have some drinks with, and to take me around town to give me a lesson about living around Seoul.

I'm 24 years old and I'm from the Birmingham area in Alabama (sans stereotyped far right religious southerner btw.)

best,

Mitchell P.

Hey Mitchell,

I can't say that I'm too familiar with Gwangmyeong City, but I know that the area around Cheolsan Station has an ok number of foreigners. Worse case scenario, you can wander around Cheolsan Market aimlessly until you find some fellow white devils like yourself. It's a decent place, so I'd recommend you take the offer. Besides, it's more fun (In my opinion) to explore and be a little out of your element rather than have your experience spoon fed to you.

Hey,
I arrived here 6 weeks ago and I really enjoy the area. It's a great spot to live in, especially if you are after an endless supply of bars, food and are after some Kims Club goodness!! Give me a shout once you're here and I'll show you around.

[email protected]

Catch you later,

Claire

P.S. I'm from NZ, so y'all American to me!
