It really depends. Read my article in The English Connection. I am sure it can help you in this particular situation. Here is the information you'll need for it:

Sabio, R. (2007). Silence, Camera, English! The English Connection, 11(3), 38.

If you are interested in using videos to promote listening comprehension, you could also check this site out:

I like to use Mr. Bean. It's funny and there's very little dialogue. However, they're short and you can use them for all kinds of discussion/ writing exercises afterwards. I often teach them that in English we can tell a story in the present tense or the past tense. Sometimes we tell the same story both ways....

Good luck! Middle school students can be difficult.

I've used Mr Bean aswell, but more for my own amusement during winter camps :p

Karaoke videos with the lyrics in English are pretty good. I was getting homesick a while ago so did a lesson on the Harvest Festival and taught a bunch of middle schools kids 'All things bright and beautiful' using youtube vids.

I teach Harcourt Science and Social Studies at my Academy.
So, I use short clips about:

Volcanos > for example the 3/18 underwater volcano near Tonga

Tsunamis > clip of the Indonesian disaster a few years ago

Tornados

Live moving weather maps of Asia and Korea

Fastmotion clips of Ants building a home

Websites of extinct and threatened animals

Websites of newly found species

Clips showing different animal habitats

clips of the last Korean King's funeral march

pictures showing Korea from the early 20th Century

Schoolhouse rock stuff

NASA website to show stars, comets, galaxies..etc

Korean Olympic Gold Medalists..especially the First Korean Gold medalist who had to play under the Japanese flag

Opening Clip of Fiddler on a Roof...to show different cultural traditions.

Native American clips on traditional dance

etc...etc...etc..

There is so much you can augment and supplement while using the Internet
