Why? The fact is, a lot of these programs turn on legal immigration status, and this new administration gained many votes from those who support mass, illegal and unchecked immigration into the US.These special interest groups dont want the government to know who is in the country, or who is illegally seeking to stay and work or do bad things in our country. Secure documents and identity verification get in the way of that goal. That may put some of these programs in a precarious position in the coming months, depending on whether Secretary Napolitano is going to support the rule of law like she says she wants to do, or continue to duck and weave from the counterterrorism mission of her department as created by law.

Good God! I about just blew a casket reading this. I really hope President Obama does support "those who support mass, illegal and unchecked immigration into the US" and scrap the whole idea of REAL ID altogether. REAL ID is not a popular idea with anyone except those that want to keep Mexicans out of the US. Seriously, does the Republican Party want to keep itself in a permanent minority?

We should just give agro workers visas. Don't put a quota down. Just give out agro-visas. And don't make it a replay of the Bracero program, either.

How the hell is it possible to gain "many votes" from "special interest groups?" Or is it just because a lot of people disagree with you, that they become "special interest?"

What's funny is that the CIS is a special interest group. Also, I meant for the OP to be about the nexus of REAL ID and 'illegal' immigration. Neither of which I like. REAL ID was supposed to keep the US safe from terrorists, but instead it's being used by the anti-immigration brigade to keep Mexicans out. The whole thing is disgusting.
