Also did not find it helpful, beyond basic vocabulary. Specifically animal names.

Later, took a language course and the sentence structure and indicators were all new. I'm just skeptical that stuff that complex can really be absorbed organically.

yeah its pretty bad. Its glorified flash cards. That's it. They claim its for beginners but if you don't already know 한글 you're pooched, and it works entirely on trial and error. you never know what the word is first (unless you've heard it) so you're always making mistakes in the beginning.

one bonus is if you have a hacked psp, you can run rosetta stone on a psp and load the korean module and study on the go.

I like the structure of it but it's only effective if you can read the alphabet. Without that it's basically useless.

I've had it for a month and like it.

I was using Rosetta Stone v1, but now am using v3, and like it much better. The activities vary a lot more, and it forces you to figure out what part of the sentence means what. Obviously, there isn't someone to field questions about what means what, and I haven't tried out the voice recognition yet (I use it at work during free periods), so I can't vouch for that.

Yes, being able to read Hangul is really helpful, but not totally required. The program reinforces your reading skills if they are anywhere near as shaky as mine are.

Personally, I think it's more useful (and quicker) than the "listen. repeat." stuff they have the English teachers use for Korean students, but I guess that should be fairly obvious.

Save your cash and get Declan's Learn korean software....

Much better and CHEAPER(Under $50)....a great guide for learning grammar if your a beginner. Also teaches vocab.

It the Survival Korean series was a software program, it's probaly look like Declan's software.
