I got my Macbook from the states.....and need to practice typing Korean, but is it even possible without the Korean keyboard? There are lots of options under the International preference settings, but anything I click or do regarding Hanguel does not change anything, and when I am using Word and click one of the two Korean fonts, it still types in English.

Any ideas? Do I need to download some software?

To be able to type in Korean on a mac: Install the 2-set Korean in the international settings. I also recommend setting up a shortcut to switch between Korean and English easily. I use command-space to switch back and forth between the last two languages used on the computer.

For practicing, I don't know, but I'm currently having fun with the link above. Thanks Manner of Speaking!

I go to International setting then Input Menu, and there click on Hangul, 2-Set Korean.

After that, then what? I still don't know how to get my keyboard to type in Korean.

Also, I see the thing for 'keyboard shortcuts'. When I click it there are lots of options, but I am not sure which one would let me switch between languages.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

After you select hangeul 2 set korean, just close the international window and make sure that the Korean language is selected (right next to the battery symbol) and start typing. You'll have to memorize where the keys are, though.

For shortcuts:

Select the previous input souce
and
Select the next input source in the Input menu

Those have both been useful to me. Choose whatever is easy for you.
