CANADA SIGNS CITIZEN DEBT INFORMATION SHARING AGREEMENT WITH KOREA

SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Canada signed a wage garnishing and debt collection agreement on Tuesday. As a part of the agreement, any Korean who moves to Canada may be contacted there by debt collectors, and in extreme cases, find reported income garnished in order to cover any outstanding debts due to purchases or loans. Likewise, any Canadian working in Korea who owes debt due to purchases or loans will also be subject to similar measures. The two countries agreed to share debtor information from national debt collection databases.

Hey, it's serious... why doesn't the link work?

They're setting up special offices for Canadian debt enforcement officials, RCMP officers, and bill collectors in a special room at the Blue House in Gwanghwhamun. They plan to share everyone's ARC and E-2 details, along with phone numbers.

They're coming... OMG, they're coming! Happy AF!

Laughing

The nutty thing is that I can almost see this sort of thing happening with the USA. In case you haven't been following the news back home, there are have been some seriously outrageous taxes being placed on products and activities to fund government money problems in this bad economy.

Cig taxes have gone up to obscene amounts. There's even a strip club tax in one state that's an automatic $5 charge for attending a place like that. There's an article floating around out there with more gems.
