I posted this over in the off topic forum, but didn't get too many hits. I figured this qualifies as living in Korea stuff.
I just picked up a '97 CB400. I love this rippin' little thing. I was so stoked to pick one up, never having the opportunity to buy one in the states, and given the fact I see them everywhere here, I ASSUMED I could find mechanics and parts easily.
Well, I can't locate a single source online for OEM parts, and now really have no idea where to get things fixed in or near Ulsan. Does anyone know a good honda mechanic in Ulsan or nearby? Websites for parts? Shops that sell parts?
The fork seals need replacing, the mirrors are shot, the side stand kill switch decides to kill the motor every now and again while evading traffic, and she has a cough at @5000 rpm (jetting?).
Lastly, I'd love to get together and ride with some folks, so sound off.
Cheers,
Beau |

sweet, thanks for the reply. i figured busan would have more selection, i just want to avoid having to go all the way down there to get stuff done. so, the "good" shops there can order whatever i might need from japan then?
if anyone knows of a good mechanic (who does hondas) in ulsan, shout.

I don't know if he works on Hondas, but I take my bike to Jay's Performance in Bangeojin, it's right next to the bus station. He speaks decent english, and provides quick and cheap repairs/ maintenance. The phone number is 010-4490-6464. Tell Jay the other waygookin sent you. He'll know who you're talking about.

Yeah, I live right next to Ilsan beach. When I started looking at bikes here, I also tried to find a CB400. The one I test drove was in terrible condition, nothing on it worked, and it had goofy lights and yakuza stickers all over it. So I passed on that, and ended up getting a Hyosung Mirage 250.
It sounds like you need to get your bike fixed asap, Jays is open on saturdays (not sure about sundays). Just give him a call, he can straighen ya out. There are maybe two other english speaking shops on ulsanonline.com just click on the partners link on the left hand side. Good luck getting it fixed. I'm off to Gyeongju for the day. |

I think we cb400 riders need to make a club so we can share mechanical problems, used parts and what not.
Korea is not a great place to get your Honda fixed. There isn't a single site for parts. You can buy lots of stickers and other junk to make your bike look like a Han Rider but nothing to actually fix the thing. The mechanics are almost as useless.
Honda shop in Incheon and Gangnam. Look them up. Other than that try and find a mechanic who knows his shit and will get work done. Many mechanics are only interested in replacing expensive parts. They don't want to do maintenance (they seem to make money only from the parts, they don't charge by the hour). |

I just moved my CB up to Anyang and I'm on the look out for a decent shop that can help me maintain it from time to time. Anyone know of one in the area? |

I don't know the area well but there are a few shops with big bikes on the main drag near Anyang Station and another little shop tucked in the mess of homes on the way to Anyang University from Anyang Station. They have loads of bigger bikes there. Those might be good shops to start at.
You might ask the OP of the Official Motorcycle and scooter thread about shops in Anyang. I think he knows a few. |
