Hi, I'm moving to a new job in Bucheon next week. What are some things to do here? Any cool sights, hangouts, things to see/do? Don't worry about my personality, just tell me what YOU like to do here. thanks

Where in Bucheon? Which dong? Bucheon is small, but you have a really nice, rich area with a lot of cool restaurants, and then you have a very old and run-down area.

Unfortunately for you though, years ago there used to be a Quiznos and two Subway sandwich joints in Bucheon, but they shut down ages ago. Koreans don't seem to relish the idea of good-tasting sandwiches for some reason.

I don't know which dong I live in, but I will be working at Brighton school, and my apartent is about a 15 minute walk from the station at the E-mart.

I maybe moving to Bucheon, near Songnae station, however I'm not sure if it's the place I want to be at, culturally. I'm an artist so I'd like to be somewhere "happening" as stated. Bucheon, seems a little, well, "plastic" but I have no empirical evidence of this just yet, only from what I can gather online.

So yeah, any feedback about Bucheon and any sort of an art scene going on there would be nice. Also are there any hobby supply stores in the area for art? I see there is a decent amount of bars and such. But I sort of like dingy places, sort of like Brooklyn, for lack of a better description.

I've seen several art supply places while wandering around Bucheon, especially near Bucheon station. Bucheon is supposedly pretty big on the animation scene in Korea, and they're opening up some sort of animation institute shortly. It's one of the few places I've been in the Seoul area that actually has sculptures all over the place, at least near City Hall. I like it overall.

I live in Bucheon with my wife. We made a blog about living in Bucheon, with lots of movies. You'll see its park, its malls, grocery stores, foreigner bars, and some of its restaurants.

Yeah, as long as there is a good choice of art supply stores and even a thrift store would be nice too. Hopefully, I'll get an extra room for a studio, which I'm going to ask about during my interview tomorrow. If I express my sincerity about getting a little more space (for something productive) then maybe they'll understand my situation. Hell, my recruiter through (Korvia) claimed that they were impressed with my resume so why not?

Bucheon is very nice from my experiences and I plan to work there for my next contract. In terms of foreigner hang outs one of the main ones is the bar Rythme and Booze. From Songnae station take a taxi to Hyundai department store and its just around the corner from there. There are always a ton of foreigners and a mix of english speakign koreans there.

I've lived in Bucheon for about 2 years now. It is a quiet suburb about 30 minutes outside of Seoul. It is modernish, cleanish. sights. not many dude. We have a couple mountains for hiking. There are plenty of gyms if that is your thing. WE have a mall and movie theaters, and a couple of good restaurants. We have two bars here. One is R and B. It is a really good place. The owners are cool. The food is also quite good and resonalebly priced. the other is called FX. Never been though.
WE have alot of fat white girls here. Though the talent seems to be improving. We also have alot of fat white guys who dress like slobs. Sorry ladies. K girl wise could be better. all in all it s a decent place. I find myself heading into seoul for supplies, food, music, etc. but that is symptomatic of korea in general. Bucheon is a suburb of Seoul with about 11,000,000 brothels.

So, yeah, it's cool.

I lived there with CentralCali for a couple of years. It has a huge park with lots of cool stuff to do. That's a bummer about Quizno's closing down but I remember all the times I went there, no one was there except for maybe one customer. There's also a cool place by the park in Jungdong called 왕시루봉. It's basically a bar/pojang macha but it has killer food and the owner is really cool and speaks English quite well. The Jungdong area is very artsy in my opinion.

Bucheon is a pretty good area. Alot of stuff is in walking distance depending on where you live. If you live near the station on Friday and Saturday nights the nightlife is pretty good with lots of young Koreans hanging about.I prefer Bucheon station nightlife then the area around Hyundai. Much more energy and a younger crowd. Good shopping options with Homeplus, GS Square and Hyundai. Explore the city a bit and its not too bad. Plus your like 30 min away from Seoul so it is easy to go in for dinner during the week. Send me a pm if there any questions you have.

how much would a taxi cost (about) back to Bucheon on a late night out from Hongdae area?

Are there also any late night buses (like they do from Yonsei) to Bucheon that run till 2am ish (like they have to Ilsan out of interest)?
