Hi folks,

Need a little help here. I'm in Canada and I have been offered a contract which I'm going to accept in South Korea.

I got my criminal record check but it needs to be notarized from what I'm told by the closest Korean consulate for their stamp of approval. I understand this part.

However, now I also heard that I needed to have it Notarized by a Notary Public or a lawyer before sending it to the closest Korean office. Is this true?

Do I have to get the Criminal Record check Notarized twice then? So much hassle.

Please let me know if you have done this before.

Thank you.

Yes, correct, two different stamps from two different places on a COPY of the CRC.

Here's my account of the visa process from Toronto:

Important to note that if you don't have a lawyer friend, the notarization of your CRC (and degree if you choose) will be about $30 (or more).

Yes you do and yes, pain in the ass.

It's so much easier to do while in Korea. Just take your CRC to the Canadian embassy and they notarize and stamp it for you there. Cost is $55.

So, for those of you already in country and thinking of getting a job next year - get your CRC notarized here, it's good for 6 months.

Thank you for your replies. It sure is a hassle but it has to be done.
