Mods,
I think its time we bring back the ability to post pictures. At least the sweeping ban on posting images needs to be revisited at this time.
You probably will not lose traffic if you ignore this request, and there's probably no tangible gain if you grant it. But, what is the rationale, at this time, for disabling images? |

Because as soon as they enable photos, some tosser will post pictures of a girl throwing up out of her butthole.

| You'd think there would be a way to enable posting images for posters over a certain number of posts. That seems to be the solution for just about every other minor freedom they've stripped from new users. |

I support the cause and I've chimed in on every one of these request threads, but Kuros, they won't listen. The policy is to just keep on turning a deaf ear to the issue. Well, one more thread can't hurt, right? I wish you/us luck.

And one bad apple can easily be banned, as can each future bad apple. People can and regularly do post foul things, and they're dealt with in a way that doesn't necessitate taking the entire board's posting privileges away. A solution to the foul pic-posting problem already exists. It's called "banning". |

Actually, contrary to popular belief, mods do not control which features are and are not allowed here. If/when Dave decides to reinstate pictures, he'll do it.

I've been posting mostly on a large karaoke site that allows pics and also has a variety of forums.
It's a lot more attractive than just verbiage and posting links to pictures because there's more rhythm and flow to the images, pictorial humor, and photomontages, etc. |

Not sure if it's possible, I imagine it is, to allow pictures to be posted in just one forum. That way if you are at work at don't want to risk something popping up, just avoid that forum at work.
Probably falling on deaf ears, but it's a thought... |

Makes sense.
That kind of explains why one incident was enough to disable the function, and it has not come back in months (years?)? |

what needs to happen is daves needs to stop registrations again!
and sweep the handles for the bad ones and delete them!
allow posting of pictures again, anyone posts anything perverted be banned with no chance of coming back. because no more registrations!
new registrations should be by invite only! and mods need to be more strict with all these random new accounts popping up...
also a function of not being able to post pics until you have posted 25 posts just like with PM's... or even better, only accounts with joining dates 2 or 3 years prior to date! |

| Bring back pictures. Why should we all suffer just because a few people can't handle some off-color humor? I want to be able to have an avatar and post lolcats and all those other annoying things that make the internet great. |

How about a mod PMing Dave with a link to this thread so that it's sure to catch his attention (and perhaps influence him to reconsider his policy...)
First, I'll report my own post to get a mod's attention.
(I believe that it's premature to initiate talk of boycotting these forums at this time - but it's getting late, and this issue persists like a thorn in the side to many prolific contributors ...) |

| Careful with the use of the boycott word. Threads get deleted really quick that way. |

| Well, I had to have some reason to report my post to a mod - I reported that the thread should be reported to Dave Sperling. |

Stop registrations? Make the forum invite only? What is this, some kind of secret society? Besides, who would be responsible for "scouting" new members, and what criteria would they use?
The whole point of a forum like this is to allow anyone who wants to join to be allowed to. People who breach the TOS should absolutely be banned, but to say anyone who wants to join can't because they might break those rules strikes me as being too restrictive. |

its nothing new! dave has stopped registrations before and for long periods of time.
but yeah its hard I guess..
the best way is to limit posting pics to only people who have memberships for 2 years or more.. or have posted 50 times or something like that.
because if you look at the history of the picture violators its always people with very recent join dates... |
