OK, here's the story... I love Vegemite and I could not live without it anymore. I couldn't find it anywhere in Korea so I broke down and ordered it online from Australia (I'm not from there and I didn't want to bother my friends down under to send it). The shipping costs were high since it's international and Vegemite jars are rather heavy. So, to reduce the shipping cost per unit and to provide what I think is a nice service to other Vegemite-starved expats in Korea, I ordered a whole bunch.

So now I offer it to you. Mind you, I've already been told that my price is not cheap, but I assure you I am not making a profit. Again, I did it to reduce my own shipping fee and to provide a service.

I have 220g jars for 11,000 won + 1,500 won for shipping (unless you live in Wonju) for a total of 12,500 won.

Although I am not personally a fan of vegemite, I know many are... personally, I've missed HP sauce. Anyhow, this is a good person!

Korea needs more of these types here!

Ive seen HP sauce for sale...

I got mum to send me some vegemite, i love it with Camembert cheese and crackers haha.

It seems to be an Australian Nz thing though, every Canadian/American/Brit has thought i was strange for eating it, and have thought the taste extremely salty and horrible haha

Vegemite is a dark brown/black food paste made from yeast extract, used mainly as a spread on sandwiches, toast and cracker biscuits in Australia. It is similar to British and New Zealand Marmite and to Swiss Cenovis.

Vegemite is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract, a by-product of beer manufacturing, and various vegetable and spice additives. The taste may be described as salty, slightly bitter, and malty - somewhat similar to the taste of beef bouillon. The texture is smooth and sticky, much like peanut butter. It is not as intensely flavoured as British Marmite and it is less sweet than the New Zealand version of Marmite.

Vegemite is rich in B vitamins, but unlike Marmite and some other yeast extracts, it is not artificially fortified with vitamin B12. It also contains glutamic acid, an amino acid found in yeast extract, that is related to monosodium glutamate.

Glutamic acid (abbreviated as Glu or E) is one of the 20 proteinogenic amino acids and its codons are GAA and GAG. It is a non-essential amino acid. The carboxylate anions and salts of glutamic acid are known as glutamates.

Glutamate is a key molecule in cellular metabolism.

Glutamate also plays an important role in the body's disposal of excess or waste nitrogen.

Glutamate is the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter in the mammalian nervous system.

A spread of Vegemite (5g) on a slice of bread will provide the following percentages of daily vitamin needs:

Daily Intake (RDI) Per 5g Per 100g, is as follows.

Thiamine: 50% 11.0mg

Niacin: 25% 50.0mg

Riboflavin: 25% 8.6mg

Folate: 50%

Vegemite is fat free and very low in calories

Thiamine
(B1) plays an essential role in converting carbohydrates to energy, as well as being important for growth and normal functioning of the nervous system and heart.

Riboflavin
(B2) is also important for the release of energy from foods, in particular protein metabolism. Riboflavin is essential for the development and repair of tissues, including the skin and eyes and is necessary for growth.

Niacin
(B3) is necessary for normal energy metabolism.

Folate
Folate is another B group vitamin with several important functions. Folate is essential for the formation of red blood cells and the production of enzymes and other body proteins.

I think Vegemite is best eaten on toast with a slice of cheese (not butter).
