My co-teacher has to visit a superintendent (education) tomorrow, they've given me the day off. Laughing

I intend to get my Korean criminal check tomorrow, for my next job (if I am offered one).

I have a phone interview with an elementary school this evening. I hope they offer me the job.

You're in GEPIK right?

Tomorrow is a holiday (provincial election), so all schools are closed and we all have the day off.

Sorry, but you aren't special...

I'm not calling myself special. I'm saying it's rare for my school to give me any day off. I'm surprised they didn't ask me to come into school. Laughing

I'm a little confused about this. My husband (GEPIK teacher at another school) gets the day off, as well as all of the teachers at my school, but apparently, I have to come in to desk warm or take a day of vacation. Is there any kind of rule about this?

from what I understand it's just for school teachers and school related people who are supposed to vote for the new head of the education office. that's it.

Why don't you relax tomorrow and then call in sick on either Thursday or Friday instead? Laughing

Why should people care? I mean really, is it necessary for you to post every stupid and boring detail of your failed little life?

You obviously care enough to post about it! What a 'winner' you must be! Laughing I can see you are unfamiliar with fromtheuk. You'll soon learn. Laughing

The official take is, you get 20 days vacation (or whatever the case my be) and official public holidays (i.e. red days, which this is not). So technically your school is in the right. It's pretty poor form however for them to enforce this, and this doesn't bode well for other discretionary days. (school's birthday, a couple of extra days of Chuseok, in May etc).

Nomad-ish, it's Gyeonggi province only.

Good news! I have an interview at another elementary school on Monday evening.

My recruiter said they should offer me the job, the face-to-face interview is Korean culture. He said they are eager for someone to stay the whole year.

I've nearly done a full 2 years now, so I assured him that's not a problem.

I have spoken to/emailed the co-teacher there. She seems pleasant and she was genuinely impressed by our conversation. She said I was kind.

I gave her the new co-teacher's cell phone for a verbal reference.

I hope this is a done deal. What do you think?

Will the British Embassy, Police, Homeplus etc. be open as usual tomorrow? Anybody know?
