who is the head of state of england? who is the head of state of canada? who is the head of the church of england? just look at whose face is on the currency.
when you have one person who is regent and also head of the religion...that is a theocracy. get the queen to relinquish her hereditary role as head of the church and england'll get off the list of theocracies.
israel isn't a theocracy? tell that to the people born there who are denied citizenship based upon their religion. think this nation doesn't get just a wee bit of US aid? are orthodox jews still forbidden from military service? ha, that's a laugher. let the "lesser" folks do your fighting because you are too holy.
religion is poison. that theocracies should take on the mantle of a democracy to placate the masses is no surprise |

| wow this is pretty horrifying, but i can't say i'm surprised. it's a deeply religious area of the world, and religions generally tend to the anti-human. this is where the real gay-rights struggle is being fought, and i can't imagine the courage it must take to be yourself at the risk of being tortured and murdered, sometimes by your own family for the shame you've brought upon them. not to belittle the gay marriage fight, but i hope the gay community will remember that there are those of our tribe who need our voices raised in protest against their having had rights far more elemental stripped from them. |

as always, address the post and not the poster.
we seemingly only get stupid stuff such as state sanctioned killing of folks due to sexual orientation from theocracies.
if you don't like the legal decision, perhaps it is best to recognize the root cause. and in this case (as in so many others) the root cause is that religion demands that folks turn off their brains and simply obey the "big man"of the congregation/state.
as the talmud reads: "god's seal is truth". |
