I've just asked my co-teacher to have a word with the ground keeper next time they meet. (sorry I forgot before!)
the weather is soooooooo nice today, steady temp with a small breeze - i'd love to be on one of those houses/boats this evening! |

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! With a day like today, lazing on a lake boat house with some beers and the ability to cook some steaks or fish would be NICEEHHHHH!
ahem..not to mention fishing too |

The "floating house things" look cool! The place you want to go is Hwacheon...about 25 minutes past Chuncheon. You can get a bus in Seoul and it will take you straight there. It's the station right next to the big electronics high rise shopping complex. I dont know if they rent gear, but I do know that fishing poles are pretty cheap. I bought a decent one in Hwacheon for about 15 bucks.
The area is beautiful! When you get to Chuncheon, the bus heads up a steep, windy road and into the mountains. When you get past the dam, start looking off into the river (both sides). You will see the floating houses scattered around the area...and there are also some in hwacheon.
Sorry, can't give exact directions/details. When I went, I brought a tent and camped along the river--didn't actually stay in one of the houses. |

So cool. It sounds like a really great spot!
Well, hopefully we can get some more info on the house boats. And maybe some more detailed directions, although I think we can manage on what was already given....Otherwise we may just go on a whim and see what happens! I'm more inclined to do the latter, but I'd have to coax my friends a bit if there isn't much more info!! |

I'm still on it! My co teacher asked the ground keeper guy last night, he's trying to find the number for the house boat person.
He did say that it cost 40/50,000 for the day (not sure if that included overnight) and you need to take your fishing gear.
I'll get more details. |

Does the 40/50,000 include the cost of the coffee girls? |

try anglerstown.com It's mostly a flyfishing site here in Korea but has some good information for other types of fishing.
I've found most of my fishing holes by just driving around in the country and looking for a likely spot. I carry a Diawa Micro-lite spinning rod and reel in my car at all times. Don't always have much luck but i always have fun. |

| I say again that up in the Chungcheong mountains the best fresh water fishing in South Korea is lurking. If you are not averse to a 3 hour (from Seoul) bus trip, I'd be glad to host you for a weekend and show you some salt water bits. |

Just to be clear I am on about CHUNCHEON there are a couple of other places with very similar names.
I spoke to my co-teacher yesterday, he then asked the ground keeper guy. He didn't know the number but said there is a board on the road where the place is.
My co-teacher said he would write it down on the way home......
Guess what - he forgot!
Anyway i will make him write it on his hand or something tonight!!!!!!!
The groundkeeper guy did say that the fishing isn't that great at the minute because the water is still vvv cold.
I would also imagine that you fish with a 'jig' on the house boats because the water is deep.
As for places to buy gear, if you really want to leave it until the last minute to buy the stuff you could get it from E-Mart (prices are bound to be higher).
The bus station in Chuncheon is part of the E-mart complex. From E-mart to the fishing place would take about 30 mins in a taxi and cost about 15/20,000 at a guess. |

The number for the place is : (033) 243-8351
I haven't rang it yet but I presume the guy will speak no English. Get your co-teachers of a K freind to call him.
Oh one more thing. If any of you do go along please don't be dick's!!!
You will only ruin it for anyone else that chooses to go along after you.
Enjoy the fishing!!!!

| In Cheongcheong they eat Rainbow trout Sashimi. I've tried it. It looks like Salmon but its virtually tastless. I always thought eating fresh water fish Sashimi was dangerous but they do it here. |

Are you missing a digit? I've never seen 6 digit phone numbers in Korea. |
