What threat? From what I remember they drew the red line at the UNSC meeting to discuss them. The UNSC met. Their threats were empty. Now they make another, empty, impotent threat. All hot air. Pathetic little country.

Did you even read the article? Seriously...

Pathetic country....with a gripe.

That is a dangerous combination..whether the liberal pussies in the UN want to realize it or not.

Yes, I did. I read several articles on this.

Let's see

Quote:
North Korea warned the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday it would take "strong steps" if the 15-nation body took any action in response to the launch. On Wednesday, the Communist-ruled country gathered its top party and military officials for a celebration of the launch broadcast on its state TV and monitored in Seoul.

But wait, they made an earlier threat that there would be war if the UNSC even met....seems to me like backtracking.

What is NK really going to do? Seriously? Any move on the part of NK would be the green light for the US to do what the US has anted to do for a while, but couldnt because of PR problems stemming from Iraq. Any first step by NK against SK or Japan would automatically take that worry off the table and NK would be wiped out. Screw them.

They also threatened military action if any of the debris from their bottle rockect was collected. Though, I doubt they would do it.

Yes, I agree...*beep* em. But the longer the world does nothing (sanctions only hurt the people...NOT the goverment) the more they will get away with.

Of course China and Russia don't want to help out. They would rather be a splinter in everyones' side.

*beep* it..............."Strike first, strike hard...no mercy, sir!!!

Well the Obama adminstrations lack luster response was very discouraging.. they met once, and didnt get anything done... and that seemed to be it..

Obama even said that even though they may not have agreed on anything, that North Korea still didnt win, which is bullcrap.

North Korea ust defied the international community without consequence as well as gained valuable new test data to continue developing its missile programs. All at no international cost.

In general Obamas foreign policy is starting to look scary. Talking with nations is one thing, a good thing yes, but it seems as if were starting this turn-a-blind eye to everything and give them what they want so they will like us sort of thing.

It was also worrying when just yesterday Iran announced that they now had 7,000 centrifuges enriching uranium.

Hillary Clintn downplayed it..hile the FRENCH..the freakin FRENCH expressed more concern then we did!

Wth is going on?

Why threaten military action if it was collected? It's just junk emitting chemicals sitting at the bottom of the ocean helping to destroy our seafood.

I think the best solution would be to go pluck that thing out of the ocean and deliver it back to North Korea (or at least dispose of it responsibly) and tell them it's OK to send something up to space, but it would be a kind and responsible gesture to retrieve your hardware as it's awful pollution to the world's oceans to let that sit down there since it didn't make it to space.

No ones going to clean up bad pollution like this since it costs money and there's not money to make out of retrieving it. I know America and other nations are guilty of dumping hardware in the oceans associated with rocketry and military operations too. Like that thing that fell out of the sky in the late 1970's into the southern Pacific and the parts dropping off of rockets as they go through phases as well as failed attempts like North Korea's.

If you look at this from 2 perspectives, you can see where North Korea is coming from in their defiance, it's just we don't approve of a Stalinist style regime that leaves a lot to be said with how they treat their people.

Who cares? Do any of you actually think that the DPRK would attack America?

America as global policeman is ending. Adapt to the new paradigm. The DPRK is not a Western problem. Let the Chinese and Koreans deal with them.

This is true.

However, there is nothing much the international community could do about it. As long as NK insists it was launching a satellite, it had a right to do so. 'Just because we don't want you to' is not a good enough reason to take action.

Sometimes impotency is an uncomfortable fact of life.

AS far as I have read NK has not said they WOULD NOT pick up the debris. They are a pathetic country but we need to focus on one point really quick...

Who the hell are we to tell them they cannot do something as simple as launch a harmless rocket?
