I like the 1 liter draft plastic bottles. Perfect size. The first one when I'm hot and sweaty is gone in two or three sips. The second maybe five minutes. The third and I'm a steady 20-25 minutes each after that. I work out, ride, and walk everywhere I don't ride, but for some reason I'm still getting fat.
So, anyone know how many calories are in one of those things? |

1 liter has approximately 600 to 700 calories. A typical 330ml beer packs 200 calories; about 1 candy bar. If you drink 3 of those 1 liter puppies a night, that's over 2000 calories and you'll gain weight even though you're getting 1 to 2 hours of hot sweaty exercise a day. This 2000+ calories does not include your food, Gatorade, and anything else that's not plain water. You very well probably are consuming 3500+ calories a day. Remember, you're body might only need 1500 to 2000 calories a day to optimally function; less if trying to lose weight.
This beer and food at night thing is a bugger for millions of guys the world over. |

1 litre of lager is not 600 calories. A pint is approximately 200, and a litre is less than two pints, so maybe 300 was a bit of an underestimate, but it's still under 400.

But yeah it still gives you the beer belly.

Bugger. No wonder I'm gaining weight. Ok, I guess it's back to Fri-Sat only. |

So 1 liter is 2.11 pints. And I saw a lot of 227 calories to the pint so I'll use that.
478 calories per liter. That's a lot. I wonder if draft beer has fewer or more calories than lager? |

One litre is 568ml. I'm talking imperial pints like any good ale drinker should :p One litre is 1.76 pints. |

Yeah I'm absolutely certain that if you're trying to lose weight, you shouldn't drink anything but water.
This is much more easily preached than practiced in my experience. |

OP, you are drinking the equivalent of 1.5 six packs a day.
Is it any surprise you are starting to pack on a few pounds? |

Umm, it's more than that. I said it was a steady 20-25 minutes each after the third. Some nights more, some nights less. Fri-Sat runs 6 or 7 each night. but, as I said yesterday, need to keep it to non-school nights. Drank about 3 liters of barley tea (REAL barley tea, not a euphemism for beer) last night. I'll do the same for the rest of the week and save the crazy for the weekend. |

You're drinking 3, 4, 5, 6 (?) litres of beer after you work out? Unless that working out consists of several hours of jogging you're probably going to be putting on more calories than you're burning off. Thanks, though, for making me feel like much less of a piss-head. |

A work out consists of either 30-40 km on my bicycle at 33-40kph after a 5-10km warmup at 22-28kph....
or the gym which is maybe two hours of pushing hard.
I'm still a fatty. |

Wow - that's a lot. I'd try the same amount of time jogging / power-walking for a month and see if it made any difference. |

I found that drinking more than a few 12oz bottles of beer a week will completely SABOTAGE any gains you want to make. 200 calories doesn't sound like a lot, but if you drink 6-10 a week, that's around 2000 useless calories your body didn't need.
My advice: put down the beer and pick up the soju and kimchi :-p |
