...was up?

I just got a sweet job offer, but they of course want someone now now now. I'm only half way through a year at a corporate job.

I feel like it would indeed be worth it to leave my current job, but I am, and will be, on an E7 visa, which immi can dismiss at the drop of a hat.

Anyone here ever bail on a corporate gig and come out fine?

I would just give them proper notice (2 weeks is enough) and take the new job. Koreans do it all the time, there's no reason why you can't do it as well.

In my two years at a corp gig, I watched dozens of engineers accept a position and leave within months of starting at my company. It happens all the time. Don't worry about it.

Cool, and that's actually what I was thinking.

Not much of a diff though since the job wanted me to start, like, today (of course).

If they want you to start today, I'd have a very careful look at the job before quitting the one you have.

This^^^

It seemed like a sweet job, and I felt bad for the guy interviewing...like he knew it was retarded but was just trying to get someone.

I'm happy for whoever gets the job though; it was the one on worknplay for editing videogame scripts.

Not really, I came here on an E7 before getting married. You just need a company that is willing to go that extra mile for you... some of them are willing.

I had a corporate job for a while, hated it and quit. Lived here on a tourist visa unemployed for a few months then started looking for a new job. Worked for TEPS for a short time (it was even worse than the other job). Quit that one and moved on to a better job--kept it for 4 years. I was fine.

TEPS? The teacher exchange program for Seocho?

If you work at any of the english villages you can get an E7. They're desperate to give them away.

Oh really? Do you have any evidence of this?

I have a Korean friend who worked at the Paju english village. They've been trying for months to find a native speaker to work there. She just transferred to a location inside seoul about a month ago, but last I heard they were still looking for someone. They give out E7s there.
Paju is a short trip from seoul but closer than a lot of them. If they're having trouble probably most of the rest of them are having trouble as well.

No, the big company that scams the public with shoddy listening tapes and monthly booklets. They also have one of the big English test programs.

Beware of greasy used car salesmen type guys on subways offering jobs.

I live close to the Paju location and know the bartender at the pub. She told me that they are getting fewer and fewer teachers to come work there and NO ONE is renewing their contracts.
