How long do you think it is acceptable to be without an internet connection to your computer?
I was told to move my stuff into the English Zone. I supervise the kids who come during my lunch breaks.
There was on internet connection when I moved all of my things, desk computer etc in TWO WEEKS AGO.
I hate nagging but I'm getting sick of asking when I will have internet access again. I'm also tired of borrowing other computers to get stuff done.
The problem I've been told is there is no physical line?! Planning! Hello. They have to mess up the nice remoddelling to put a line in and cover up the hole.
Any ideas? |

Well I'm no expert, but you could grab the cat 5 and your crimp kit and get to work. |

Same thing happened to me so I stopped using the multimedia altogether, sort of as a protest - I moved to handouts and explained to each of my coteachers that since there was no internet, I couldn't use videos or music so all the technology would just have to go to waste.
They sent someone in to fix it within the week. |

I'd be happy to do so. I don't have the equipment to punch a hole in the wall, (neatly). Fist or foot, someone else's head has crossed my mind.
And oldtactics. I immediatley mentioned the no internet means no fun activities. Not sure if that's working. |

Demand they buy you wireless gear. Stand over the principal yelling at him until he does as hes told. |

Wireless routers aren't that expensive. Personally, if a school was that good of a school that I wanted to stay there, I would fork over the 30-50,000 won and buy one myself. Then, I would always know I had internet connection. If you are a laptop person, you could freely go where you wanted to. |

I suggested wireless as an alternative. No go. I'm not forking out for their mistake though.
Not sure how it works through the thick brick walls too.
I'll blame the strange keyboard for the numerous mistakes in my previous posts.
The school was fantastic up till this semester.
First mention of being basically chained to the English Zone (tell someone if you are not going to be in the room), was the first sign. It ain't all bad but was definitely better last year. |

They`re morons. Every other classroom is wired except the classroom that would probably make the best use of an internet connection. Keep harping about to your co-teacher. Drop it in at lunchtimes if you dine with the principal, VP. Say all the other schools in your area have functioning internet (in their English zones) and those kids are getting a better education. You just need the internet to give the kids the best English education possible. |

Morons is right.
Although I don't teach regular classes in there. There are talking machines and a karaoke (English only) machine in the room. The market stall should have stuff soon. I have to supervise the kids during the remainder of the lunch period. I have asked for other stuff that could be used in role plays, English board games etc. There are plenty of cupboards for that stuff, as yet nothing as appeared.
I need the internet on my computer so I don't have to use another teacher's computer to find fund stuff for class. So it is having an effect on the quality of lessons but not during lessons.
I just don't understand why it's taking so long, it can't that expensive surely.
I have harped on but I am getting sick of it. I always mention the students are suffering it's not just me bitching about being able to check my email! |

Make you sure emphasize it`s for the kids` education. If not get the kids to tell their mommies. One call from a parent should move the computer ajeoshi or admin to do something. |

Even if OP could connect the ethernet cable. Munshin still would need the computer person to setup the IP address, DNS, etc for the zone. It isnt just plug and play, for my school`s internet at least. |

Ask to see the other staffs IP address, DNS and router IPs ... then get an IP by roaming through until you find an unassigned IP.
I punched through my schools to set up a wireless extension |
