I am a huge metal head and missing going to shows/ jamming with my friends. Any clubs or venues in the land of everthing smells like ass and garlic? Oh and If anyone needs a metal vocalist I am pretty good. It all depends what your metal prefference. I like black metal, death metal and grindcore. Anything from Scandinavia usually violates the ear pussies. |

There are steel plants in Pohang and Gwangyang.
They produce high quality steel in several diffent kinds of end product. I recommend the hot-rolled coils which way half a dozen tonnes a piece. They are awesome if you've got stuff to build. A lot of their iron ore is sourced from Aus, so if you hate Aussies you might not want to do any metal dealing with POSCO.
Anyway, I love metal, so much so that I bought a car made out of it. Good luck in your metal-quest. |

Of course there is--this is Korea. Most of the bands are doing fairly decently and don't really have a place you can go to hang out with them, but there are shows each week in Hongdae. I don't really know much about metal but most of the bands I know are metalcore. Vassline is probably the best of the bunch. I'm pretty sure there's grindcore but know nothing about that. And I wouldn't take Korean black metal or death metal very seriously.
There's a big list of metal bands on this page:

Not sure if this is any help:

I seen a college student driving a gray car with, "Metallica," decals so he's a metal head just like I was 20 years ago. I find Korea does a little of everything for materialism, but really isn't about the culture of all these western things familiar to us. |

I'm not a metal fan, but there is a scene. Not a big one I suppose. I don't really know, just aware of that a couple of years back. Hongdae. |

I haven't been to Iteawon in a long time. I know they once had a Heavy Metal bar on hooker hill. It also had a mosh pit. |

The Busan Rock Festival usually gets a lot of melodic death & power metal. Back in 2004, I was rudely pushed aside by an ajuma during Dark Tranquillity's set.
Anyway, there is a scene in Seoul but I believe it is more Black
Metal. One band is called Necramanth (spelling). Google Woods of Ypres for more info on David Gold. He taught and played drums around Seoul. |

Here's a post about something called the Core and Metal Fest happening this weekend.

On the 19th, Black Hole is playing in Sangsang Madang. I think they're one of the bigger metal bands in Korea.
On Club Day, April 24, you can see Downhell in Spot. They're the kind of metal inspired by Judas Priest, whatever you'd call that.
May 8, you can see Black Syndrome, Mahatma, Zihard, and Method at Sangsang Madang.
May 9, you can see Baekdoosan at Sangsang Madang.
On May 24, Hibria is coming from Brazil for a show at Rolling Hall, with Downhell, Legend, and Method.

Here's a link to a show with a bit of black metal and apparently a goth metal band. It's predominantly crust punk and hardcore though.

Yeah I saw some of those videos on YouTube; I really like Woods of Ypres.
And I hope there's a metal scene! As you may be able to tell from my name, I do quite enjoy it. ^_^ |
