How do I get a Korean driver's license?
Does Korea have separate licenses for cars and motorcycles?
I have a valid license from my country. |

If you are Canadian, then you shouldn't have any problems getting a licence with your existing one.
For me, it was a matter of paying 5000 won for a stamp, filling out two forms, presenting my Canadian driver's licence, then paying 5000 won for a medical exam, which entailed reading one of the big letters from an eye chart and squatting then standing again. 10000 won and about 1 hour of my time (most of it waiting for them to make the licence) and I had my Korean Driver's licence.
If you are American they may also still do this. I have no idea about other nationalities, but it depends on whether your home country recognizes Korean Driver's licences.
I have no idea if you can do this with a motorcycle endorsement on you licence or not. I have the feeling that you may have to write the exam and take a driving test for this.
Get a friend to take you to a motor vehicle branch or call and ask some questions.
Cheers and good luck. |

Wylde, I read the thread you directed me to, but I still don't know how to get the license. I need a step by step process. Step 1, Step 2, Step 3...
What do I need to do?
Thanks in advance! |

Step 1 - goto the local Korean DMV w/ your valid license from your home country. Also bring some won. Might be smart to bring a Korean just to ease any communication problems.
Step 2 - Fill out the application
Step 3 - READ what the application tells you to do
Step 4 - Chances are that will cover everything you need to know.
Or you could always call them? You failed to mention your nationality. I heard americans don't get a license automatically anymore, since they no longer recognize Korean licenses...so give us more info, or just call em up
Oh and they have a two system of licenses. Class 1 and Class 2. Both mean you can drive a car OR motorcycle. Class 1 means you can also drive trucks over a certain size. |

1/ pull the paper off the roll
2/ fold it up a little so it doesn't break or so you don't get messy fingers
3/ lean forward
4/ wipe

If you are American, you will need to take a test now. |

The class 2 is good for motorcycles? Maybe I'll get a scooter or a small bike now.
Thanks Mr. Pink. |

Thanks Mr. Pink. |
If your scooter is just going around the neighbourhood you dont need a license for it. If you don't get a plate on the back, means you aren't going on main streets, so you dont need a license.
When I got the drivers book a few years back it said i could use car or motorcycle but not those "veggie trucks" with my class 2 license.
Funny is a real pickup truck back home is more of truck than those fruit vendor trucks |

there are some things you must figure out for yourself.
