My contract finishes in May. I intend on traveling to SE Asia before going back to the United States. My employer has informed me that, because I'm not going DIRECTLY home, they can not pay the plane ticket to the US, only the plane ticket to Thailand. Does anyone have experience with this? My only way to get a full ticket home is to work another year and then go? |

Check your contract. It probably says they will pay for your ticket home or give you the monetary equivalent. All 3 of my contracts have. Tell them you're not sure so you'd like the $$. |

read your contract carefully. it should state something to the effect of
"employer will reimburse the employee for an economy class ticket from Korea to their home country on the most direct flight. If employee travels to a third country, the employer will still only reimburse to cost of am economy class ticket from Korea to the employees home country on the most direct flight." |

Should have kept your mouth shut! And yes it sounds like you are being cheated. What does your contract say. Some places will pay only set amount some will only pay for a ticker straight back to where you came from. You will have to really negotiate!.
Good Luck |

Just because you can't cheat them or aren't doesn't mean they are cheating you. You informed them you were going to Thailand, so they only want to pay that amount. If you kept your mouth shut and asked for just an average for the airfare to go back home, then you probably could have cashed in. Thus, cheating them. |
