Hey, I've lived in the south end of the country for a couple of years now and my indiffernce to where exactly I end up has led me to ink a contract with a school in Incheon. So, I'm looking for the good qualities of this city. If you can share your POSITIVE experinces with the city with I'd be thankful.

I've been in Incheon 9+ years. In my opinion some good points are:
1)Easy to get to the islands for day trips.
2)Close enough to Seoul to do what I want to do there in one day.
3)We finally got TGI, Outback, Bennigans, Starbucks that I can go to if I really want to.
4) An awsome (and cheap) Turkistan restaurant near my house with friendly staff.
5)Foriegn supermarkets in Nam-dong Kong dam where I can buy all my Thai curry mixes and rice. And they're cheaper than the supermarket in Itaewon.
6)A swanky coffee shop near work that has fantastic chocolate cake.
7)The temple where I take my dog for walks and no one complains.
8)Pleasent places like Wolmido, Jayu Park, Incheon Landing Memorial, some temples, etc to visit on nice days when I feel like getting out of the house.

OP I have lived in incheon for about 5 months and I guess it depends greatly on where you are.............I live near Dongmak station and I like it a lot.......it's kind of a big construction area but it's quiet, some nice hills for walking, and people are almost all extremely nice to us here. I've seen some places in in Incheon that didn't looks so nice, but perhaps they have their own spice that needs to be discovered with a little time.

Dazed and Confused: I am also waiting for your response as to the location of the turkistan restaurant....................sounds great...........also where the foreign market is, as we've been going to Itaewon once a month or so to get just those things....garbanzos, thai curries, etc...... thanks.

To get to the Turkistan restaurant is in Okryun Dong.
Turn right when you come into Okryun Dong through the tunnel. It is next to the old quarry. You can see the new airport bridge being built.

The supermarkets in Nam dong kong dam can be reached by going to the E-mart in Dong Chun Dong. Keep E-mart on your left and turn at the first corner. Go across the little bridge. Keep going straight and eventually you should find one of the supermarkets. Hard to explain and hard to find unless you use GPS.

ive lived in Incheon for nearly 3 years. Ive lived in guwol dong/yeonsu and now im in dongincheon.

it has alot to offer,i disagree however with the guy who thinks wolmido and landing memorial places are pleasant,forgettable more like,however each to their own.the foreign supermarket near dongchun station doesnt have much of a variety,however is convenient.i can give you directions if u want,not difficult to explain at all

islands are accessible, and alot of fun,the yongsan rapid takes me to seoul,is quick and convenient.there are great places to eat/drink.theres an arabian/russian restaurant near me,and a huge foreign community(non-western).


where exactly are you going to be staying?

Not sure where I'm headed. I'm not a huge fan of urban sprawls but I'm sure that I'll find something my speed. I'm mostly concerned with transportation. Access to Seoul is cool and all but I really don't want to spend one-third of my year travelling on trains or buses. So I'd rather find some nice places locally to hang out. But thanks for the input and I welcome more of it. Remember keep it positive. LOL.

i'm just about to finish my first year here. incheon is a good place. you are correct about not wanting to travel on buses too much. but if you only go to seoul once a month then its real easy. there's plenty to do here, and a decent enough nightlife if you want that. there is a decent baseball team, a football team and the grand park is nice (though crowded on weekends). its a good place in my opinion.

I lived in Yeonsu years ago and it was a cesspool. Nothing to do or see there. Had to go in to Seoul on the weekends for fun. Sounds like it has improved though in some places.
