My hagwan supplied me with a new 21" Samsung CRT TV for my apartment. I want to hook my new MacBook up to it via the composite port on the TV. Unfortunately Apple really screwed up by not offering a Mini Displayport to composite adapter. Since it's full digital, you can't even run a Mini Displayport to VGA (or DVI) to composite...but there is a converter box that you can buy back in the States that works. Here is the link:

http://store.grandtec.com/ultimateez.html

If it came down to it I can order it and have it shipped to me, but I figure i'd give Korea a good try first. So anyone know where I can get a VGA to composite converter box here in Korea?

ps im right outside Busan.

Hi mil,

Check out G-Market, they'll ship to you for free or cheap to Busan.

http://www.gmarket.co.kr/challenge_eng/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=119733659&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&search_keyword=composite%20dvi

There you'll find all of your wiring needs. I found another seller, but the prices were slightly higher. What you may be looking for is possibly A251 (located on the top 2/6 of the page, haha, huge page - Korean style).

If your new TV had component, then it would be much cheaper to hook up. Otherwise, A251 is 53,000 plus 1,500 shipping.

BUT, I would advice that a Korean friend look over the details of that item. It's possible that it's only for hooking up TV (from a cable box) to view TV on your Mac. But maybe it'll work the other way; really I'm not too sure on composite.

Anyways, this site/page would be good for anyone looking for electronic cables (of all types) and who aren't located near a major electronics market.

Hope this helps.

Here are some more options on Gmarket, just look under cable/connectors, or just browse at some other stuff for fun:

You could also searched for s-비디오 (s-video), 분배기 (splitter), or 케이블 (cable); those are some good search terms.

Good luck.
