It's not surprising that a rag like the NY Post would be envious of someone who's practically assured of becoming a big success mainly because of coverage on the Internet (which combined with cable TV has really hurt the newspaper business...)
Of course, the producers of a TV show will try to frame the story in the most appealing way and market it in the most effective - and efficient -manner.
And what brilliant insight to note that instant success sometimes changes one's personality traits...
Anyway, a new young star was discovered on this week's episode (and his first name is Shaheen ...)

There was some controversy because Simon stopped his opening audition number because it was an Amy Winehouse song (and she's no doubt perceived as a bad influence on kids due to her glamorizing cocaine and heroin...) |

Let's see her do another song, I thought her rendition was good for the first 10 seconds, then it was flat and low for most of the rest.
On a side note, Britain DEFINITELY has talent. I've seen much better acts on there from a kingdom of 60 million than from the U.S. version drawing from 300 mill.
Loved Stavros Flatley, Flawless, and the Michael Jackson & Turban Janitor act from last season. Something in the water there in Britin. |
I've heard the International Cast version umpteen times. Her performance was very similar in emotion and intonation of the different words IIRC.
If you want an interesting comparison google for Elaine Paige's version, and a version by an incredible young NZ soprano Hayley Westenra. Both were very well done on a technical level, but didn't have half of the feeling of either the Les Mis original, or Susan's rendition.
The character in the play is on the verge of death, capturing the emotion is key to anybody who knows the song. And that's what she did, very well too. I can't fault her singing, though it's obvious that her fame is due to extraneous factors.
The world is oh so hungry for a feel good story right now. |

| I can't see what all the fuss is about. It wouldn't be the first time a man in a dress has sung a bit of opera. |

Agreed~!!
First of all, I am not saying the woman is not talented.....She is amazing.
My point is, I am sick of TV stations are making those people big selling points, the whole thing looks so hypocritical to me.......
Go back to check the vid again, doesnt it look familiar to you? oh yeah, in a hollywood movie, does it?
This is a PERFECT drama, an ugly women with beautiful voice, rude audience and skeptical judges, which ended with tears and applause...etc
It didnt get my tears though.
