|
|
Hi,
I'm not usually into clubs, but my brothers are visiting Seoul, arriving on Thursday in fact, and I was thinking of taking them out around Gangnam on Friday and Hongdae on Saturday. Any recommendations? In terms of clubs, they like dance/techno and we would prefer to avoid the places overflowing with foreigners (which is why I'm not going near Itaewon).
Thanks!

NB and Mass in Gangnam, M2 and NB in Hongdae. Mass and M2 are strict techno while NB will be a tad bit more varied(just a tad though). Cover is 20-30K won, drinks aren't too expensive and the chicks are cute. About 1-3 foreigners per club. Enjoy. |

Circle, in Apgujeong, will probably not have many foreigners if a famous DJ isn't there. |

There are a million bars in Seoul and nearly all of them don't have a cover charge. Plenty of them serve cheap drinks. This city is crowded with cute women everywhere. Most have no foreigners at all. |

Yes, but the OP wants to show his friends a special time and these clubs are definitely special. |

If you really want to show them a wild time, you should consider going to Hongdae on Friday. It's "Club Day" which means you can get a wristband for 15,000 and get entry into about 20 clubs, including M2.
If the weather clears up/warms up, it'll be chaos. |

Given the anti-foreigner stories from NB in Gangnam, I'd shy away from there. Stick with Hongdae clubs except NB and Harlem. Harlem is pretty much Korean youth thinking they are gangsta. |

My apologies. I may or may not have caused some of that anti-foreign sentiment a couple of years ago when I lived near there and occasionally had confrontations with the doormen. Knowing the turnover, I'm sure it's ancient history, or it's become an example of how things get overblown.
If you want to visit there, I'm sure you'll have a decent enough time so long as you do what you're told.
OP, if you really want to show them the K-clubs without much foreign noise, why not Konkuk or Hyehwa? |

Hyehwa does not have clubs with techno. There is one club, Bun-ker, that is very small and plays mainstream dance music/rap/etc. Comfort Zone sometimes plays techno, but it's usually more chill and even though it is not a dance club, drunk people do dance.
Hyehwa has great bars, many of them hidden from the main roads an in alleys, and it has great restaurants, and artsy musical/comedy/drama theaters. |

Thanks for all the replies! Some of the suggestions seem great...will definitely check them out.
Heavy rain is forecast for this Saturday...just wondered what your rainy day recommendations are? |

Umbrellas. Maybe go to Monkey Beach. Rodeo St. in Apgujeung could provide entertainment. |
