Has anyone had any dealings with this school, or know anyone that has? Granted it's not really in the ESL arena. I have read what's on their website, but would like some other opinions if they exist. Considering my options if I have to send my boyz to a school other than DoDDs..Thanks.... |

I remember helping a high school student with her homework in literature. If I recall currectly, the curriculum seemed to be more demanding than that of my HS.
I suggest, like accepting a job, interviewing/contacting some parents of the school. Ask the school if they'll give you contact numbers, or sit outside the school and stalk the parents...
Shoosh,

I actually went to Seoul Foreign School behind Yonsei. Seoul International is way out in bumphucked Songnam near K-16. (I did spend my initial freshman semester at SIS while waiting for a spot at SFS).
Both SFS and SIS have a US-based curriculum and are considered the top two private English-language international secondary schools in Korea (and SFS is prolly in the top 3 in Asia).
SFS has a slightly higher upscale image due to its history and social status of students (ie. most Western diplomats, leading corporate execs will send their kids there if space is available), and probably better funding resulting in really good facilities. It also offers the IB (International Baccalaureate). The drawback is that it's run by bible thumpers, but they only try to preach at elementary levels.
Tuition - my 4 years of high school tuition back then cost more than my 4 years of uni tuition. Nuff said. SIS is a bit cheaper I think but don't quote me on it.
SFS has the coolest name for it's sports teams too - Crusaders!
PS. As far as I know, the US military's Seoul American High School on Yongsan also admits international students (at a tuition similar to that of the others), but if you want your kids to voluntarily associate with predominantly monkey offspring, you need to stop smoking crack. |

Seoul Trader, Not sure what you meant about the predominatly monkey offspring comment. Was it meant that students attending SAHS on Yongsan are from primates, or was that a shot at those attending SIS? The crack comment? where's that from?
Reason I posted the original question, is that when I return to Korea, I may not have sponsorship that allows me to send my kids back to SAHS with a secured seat. Last time I was lucky and got them in on a waitlist. (I was assigned in UJB and they lived in Seoul). I was just inquiring to see what options I had in the event I can't get them into SAHS like before. I saw the tuition rates for SIS, Holy Crappin Crap! $$ But the cirruculum is like you stated, top notch....
In any case thanks for the replies. |
