I keep an aluminum baseball bat in the house...Crack someone in the face with that bad boy...they're all done. Even if they block it...its a broken hand/arm at the least.

Way to defend her honor tough guy.

LOL

So I'm a bully?

Rolling Eyes

You must be pretty thin-skinned if you feel threatened by me on Dave's ESL.

Care to share any examples as to why you think so?

Don't you think threatening to shoot someone is bullyish? Rolling Eyes

No. Not if they walk unannounced into your home in America.

Please re-read. I was discussing what might happen in the USA. Not saying what I would do either here or there. Obviously you knew that, as you also posted:

Basically, you're just being an ass.

Hold on, I'm going to your house later on to dress down your wife. I'll have my shoes on. You won't do anything either because you only act tough on internet message boards. Laughing

Good job.

But you do know that now you are going to get some trolls on this forum acusing you of being a Korean and not being white?

I never thought about that, though it wont really bother me if some think I am Korean.

My mistake. Instead, perhaps it would be more culturally sensitive to escort the offending visitor to the street, drink a liter of soju, then hit him with your car while drunk.

I realize it isn't America. The point is whether or not defending yourself against someone who invades your home is justifiable or not. The country shouldn't matter (gun availability aside.)

It IS ok to defend yourself in Korea though right? Would throwing the person out the window be more acceptable? What about a Tae Kwon Do kick to the windpipe?

No, how about seeing people for who they are. And seeing the situation before pulling the trigger.
When people piss me off, as the op was doing by banging shit, I'd also not give a shit about inconsideracies as not taking off shoes.
Have you never been annoyed to a point where you forego convention?
The op explained too that the guy is a father, he was peskered numerously by the previous tenants who he thought the apt still belonged to, the house was littered with work- related refuse ....

Saying that you should shoot, or throw people out windows is ridiculous.

Sure, be annoyed and assertive yourself - but see the situation before pulling the trigger.

Man, one day you might be drunk, or even delirious one time and mistakingly enter or try to enter an apartment that seems like yours, but isn't. You would be your 'offending visitor.' Would you like the tenant there to beat you and try to kill you?
If you didn't act in the conventional and accepted manner - yet non-violently mind you - would you expect to be killed for it?

That is what I mean that this isn't America. People don't have the notion of the Wild West. Perhaps they are also more forgiving of human frailties. Well, most won't kill you for an indescretion as not taking your shoes off, or being angry one time.

Yes, but in the op's case, wtf was there to defend?

You never grew up, did you? And anyway, only a sissy would need a bat.

I think it would've been nice if you had visited the dude in advance to tell him there would be some renovations being done. It's just etiquette. But then again I've been on the receiving end and no one warned me in advance. With regards to the work being done on the weekend - it happens all the time. The dude had no right to freak out. Again, this is Korea - a very noisy country. Maybe the guy has an issue with you cus you aren't Korean?! That raises the issue of a double standard. Hard to tell.

1. Glare
2. Grab a drill from one of the workers
3. Start to slowly walk over to the idiot
4. if the drill is battery powered, rev it while walking, or if still plugged in
5. poke him with it while yelling as many profanities as you can
6. If you make it to anything past 5, the guy is a complete idiot and should be removed from the gene pool...
Sad

We notified the management office. They usually put up a notice, or contact tenants. They did not, probably because the work was considered routine.

In all seriousness, I'd grab him physically and throw him out.

The stairs are around the corner 15 m away so he wouldn't go down them. But he'd know he was trespassing. If he fought back, I'd have to get rougher.

Even then, he wouldn't read the notice. Guy would still think he has a right to complain and barge in. There's no smoking signs in a lot of places and we all know how that goes.

I saw my first 'No Spitting' sign in Hong Kong airport. I laughed and thought 'What? Who would spit indoors and onto a carpeted floor?'

Then I spent some time in China and Korea.

I can understand that speed limit signs are suggestions for some people (yeah, me too), but some signs should be absolutes. Yuck.

And, most of the notices people put up in our elevators are torn down by (kids? angry old men? drunk, AIDs-riddled foreigners?).
