|
|
recently bought a Samsung Pleomax webcam for my laptop (Sony, XP), problem is I get tons of feedback/screeching noise whenever I attach it to the laptop. Not much of a problem when it's placed a little distance away from the computer but that's not what I bought it for!
Any ideas why/how to reduce this feedback? Maybe it doesn't like my laptop |

| That could be a few different problems... but I would guess that the camera has a mic on it... When you put the camera in front of the laptop it picks up the sound from the speakers and gives you feed back. Disable the mic on the camera and it should solve your problem. Your laptop probably also has a mic so you can just use that mic. |

the laptop doesn't have a mic unfortunately (which is why I bought the dual mic+camera)......
I guess you're right about the placement by the speakers being the problem....defeats the purpose of having this webcam placed above the laptop
Any other ideas how to reduce the feedback? Do you think I'm going to have the same problem if I replaced it with another camera?
Thanks for the reply |

| It should be possible, depending on your drivers and webcam software, to mute the mic from the speakers, but at the same time to keep the input going to your computer. Try going into master volume control, mute the microphone, then go into recording volume and select the mic as the input source. You should still be able to use your mic, but it should no longer be sounding through the speakers. |

| Feedback would suggest that the level of the webcam mic is set way too high. Use the software with the webcam to bring the level down. Or if it's Skype you're using, you can adjust the mic level in the Skype settings. |
