There's a show called 불만제로 that starts in a minute (11:05) that apparently will have two features - one about some sort of soft drink (I think) but then after that it'll have a feature about taxi drivers charging extra for foreigners (especially Japanese people). No idea whether it's going to be interesting but if you have a tv next to you you might want to check it out. |

Okay, they're talking about the drinks now. Free drinks at pharmacies were made in some pretty unclean places and had mold and such things in them, and this is a follow-up to that to see how many places are still giving these crappy free drinks away. In the preview to the other one they showed some taxi drivers fiddling around with the meters so that they could raise the price while customers that didn't look like they knew anything about the country were driving and one taxi driver charged 70,000 won to go from Dongdaemun to Myeongdong. Probably about ten minutes until they get to that second story. |

I saw that program. The taxi driver told the MBC interviewer that he rips off foreigners because Koreans get ripped off by taxis when they travel overseas.
He also demanded an interview fee. |

I saw that last night.
Fortunately I have never been interested in those shit (drinks), back home, we visit friends in hospital with flowers and fruits, here people carry a box of bottles with sugarred and artificial-colorred water, I dont get it.
As to the taxi......I took a taxi with my Japanese friends years ago in Korean, my impression is: Lots of Koreans think Japanese are walking purse and they owe Koreans money due to the ignominious history. |

It's called "use a metered taxi." End of problem.
That cunt of a taxi driver has probably never been overseas. |

even then they take you the long way around or rev the engine to get the fare up. taxi drivers are the same all over the world. |

If it was a bogus 2,000 won, then what's the problem? Fraud is fraud, rip offs are rip offs. |

If you tell him your destination in decent Korean, your chances of getting ripped off plummet. |

The taxi driver charged 2 Japanese girls 70000 won to go from Dongdaemun to Myong Dong. These girls were using a hidden camera, and when they got to Myong Dong all of a sudden their Korean got really good.
Guys like that are just asking to get busted. |

The only time I was ever asked to pay extra was when I was taking a cab from Seoul, out to Gyeonggi-do. Apparently, "Seoul" cab drivers need extra money to go out to Gyeonggi-do.
But, if you find a Gyeonggi-do cab in Seoul, then they don't charge extra to go to Gyeonggi-do.
I spoke to quite a few cab drivers from Seoul and outside of seoul. All of them said the same thing. |

That's correct. I believe a grey taxi will charge a 20% premium + toll gates if they leave the city/province limits. |
