the other things a venezuelan girl will have over the K- gal is an ASS, which will be prominently showed off, usually in a pair of jeans she literally had to jump into in order to get them on.
she will also be sexy, flirtatious if she wants to be and much much more.
Living in Confucian Korea where "korean culture" says a woman is supposed to hide her interest in you is like living on Mars.

you should be fine. You sound like the average Korean guy.
If you don't see many Western hunks around here, you'll see even less Korean "hunks" (in the way we understand the word)
of course, what K-gals consider "hunky" is not what we do.
I'm sure you'll do fine, but I'm shocked by your inability to recognize that certain things like wanting a tall(er) guy and material things are things that unify women the WORLD OVER (just like forever chasing a new piece of ass is something that unified men the world over0 |

I hate to say, because it is such a popular feature, but not everyone is obsessed with a big ol meaty ass. It seems like some guys aren't happy unless a girl is 10 pounds overweight, 5 in each cheek.
Personally its never been a huge selling feature over anything else. |

You would be suprised how many scruffy, unkempt teachers live and work here - far too many - a lot of them seem never to have seen a razor or some shampoo in their lives so though I apologize for pointing out what seems the obvious - its not that obvious if you come here and work and see your fellow countrymen.
Another factor is location - living in Seoul is far preferable to living out on the wop-wops as far as dating is concerned - a lot of Korea is still very traditional and though you may get a more 'tradtional Korea' experience if you live in a rural area - you won't be finding luuuuurve!!!
As papa smurf rightly said - you seem some right ugly bastards with some beautiful women, but the ugly bastards concerned tend to be Korean - I think learning Korean is the key though and that will seperate yourself from 90% of the other male teachers here. If you have other factors like looks, money, stature - then of course that is all re-inforced.

True, I suppose learning the language does help and probably would help in most countries to overcome that communication barrier. I know it impresses the heck out of foreign peoples both male and female alike no matter what country you are in.

All I want is loyalty, a nice girl that I can get along with, not really asking for much actually. Someone who reciprocates in a relationship. I'm somewhat old fashioned and I still believe in chivalry and would like a woman that would appreciate that. Dating in the states has become quite difficult with all the head games and their unrealistic expectations. |
Cheating is pretty culturally ingrained here......women are women everywhere...and they still play games here.....Ironically the really good girls aren't gonna date us becuase bringing us home to father is a no go...we tend to attract...the more "open minded" women of society...
and at 5'8 you'll likely be short by korean standards...these dudes are tall....I'm 5'11 and I'm usually not the shortest guy in the subway car....You'll be taller than the women.....but it might be a knock against you since many girls here want a 6 foot tall guy(so they say). |

Tall-ER I can understand. Perhaps we should compare America to Korea (or other Asian countries)
Now I'm 5'8"/5'9" in the morning, lol....however....I meet women that are 5'2"....and have a height requirement they will not even budge on at 6'0"....met one that actually required no less than 6'2"....and there's no WIGGLE room with these ladies.
It's a, "You must be THIS tall to ride this ride" attitude. There's no "He must be this tall....give or take a couple of inches...."
I figured that in other countries "personality" would have more merit in other countries outside of America than looks.
I mean, I my standards in the physical as well...but I'm even finding Average looking women (who I consider my equivalent in looks) who want these drop dead gorgeous men.
It's like 90% of the available single women only persue 10% of the available single men.
I would pretty much bank that in America....the shallowness is TOP ranking (maybe number 1) when it comes to shallowness in the world.
But I could be wrong, I haven't lived anywhere else....that's why I come here (the ESL Message board) to find out....I could be surprisingly wrong.

OP you will not be SHORT by Koren standards.
HARDLY
I'm 5'11 and I'm often the tallest on a subway car and if I'm not, I'm in the top 10%.
at 5'8 you will be about average for most K-guys and your height will be just fine for your average sized K-gal, who tends to be SHORT (though I've seen some tall ones, those make my neck swivel, they usually have great great legs)
if you're not "hunky" by Western standards, it just MIGHT work to your advantage in Korea.
As I noted, what they consider "hunky" and what we do differs significantly.
get yourself a Boys over Flowers haircut and you'll be in like Flynn. 
p.s. to a certain extent you're right about NA women. That's why even an unpleasant heiffer has an average bf in the US.. the guys are that desperate. And the better looking she is, the more ridiculous her expectations.. especially for the "average looking ones".
I have a friend in the US who's a part time model - no BS, he's that good looking. I wish I looked like that guy -he's also quite muscular/athletic , a true "hunk" in the Western sense... chiseled chin, body.. blonde/blue.
he went to brazil and thought he landed in heaven. (which I can easily believe having been there myself)
upon coming back to Chicago - he told me he hated the club/bar scene - he completely agreed with my statement of "a bunch of 5's, thinking they're 9's"
that said, he still managed to get a gf at work who was smoking hot.. a Palestinian american girl of all things, VERY exotic looking, 20 years old.. and this guy was 32. |

I knew short guys who got laid with hotties and one was even ugly AND short....sounds like your game sucks....too many short guys blame their height...

As for shallowness I had to laugh, if your thinking Asia women are into personalities....well let's just say Looks, money, job, and and social status play much more of a role here than in America....Especially if the women is looking to marry....
Guys who say American women are shallow tend to not be very successful with them in the first place...Coincidentally the ones with the most experience don't do much bad mouthing....I wonder why....  |

OP,
is one to assume you're only coming for the women?
Listen mate, don't sweat it. I've seen some semi obese blokes with skinny chicks, I've dated girls 10 years younger than me, go to Seoul, hang out, jump on the net, buy some clothes, you'll be loving life. You'll find though that those who can speak English will have an annoying American accent, and might remind you of those you are trying to escape from.
Just remember, avoid girls who wear high heels with flowers on the toes of their shoes, they are best avoided and I doubt they'd like you anyway unless you always wear a suit and are a dentist/lawyer/doctor. |

No...I was using the height as an example out of MANY examples.
I'm not using my height as an excuse.
And it has nothing to do with game. ( I don't play games ) and that term "got game" is such a cop out. lol
That's okay, I was just curious, I figured while I was over there teaching and exploring, I was wondering, heck, I'm going to be there for a year anyhow....might as well see what the ladies are like. Who knows what this whole new experience will be like.....who knows what the future holds!
I'd be interested in the Korean's slant on what is shallow and what is not.
Sounds like it balances out somehow. I guess since we're all ESL, we don't stand a chance with the "Flower shoe girls"? lol
Heck, I might run into a nice ESL girl there as well. |

Pull a George Castanza and do the opposite of everything you've been doing before.
Besides, there are lots of short Korean women out there.
Isn't the general rule that men prefer a woman who is 6 inches shorter than her (and vice versa versa for the women)?? |
