In this article, the big question is, "Do job fairs really help you find a job? ." I'd say no, becuase I attended dozens of these events usually held at hotels from 2004 through 2008 and netted 0 jobs out of them. Lack of recruiting and interest; just publicity. Despite little results, droves of desparate unemployed are showing up to the point of being turned away. This sour US job market didn't start yesterday, it started back in late '01, but is worse now days.

Companies need to reinvest in people, products, and infrastructure for it to turn around. For a long time, we've just had financial investing activity instead of raw physical investing. |

I have a friend who got a job via a (college) job fair. Another friend has had a couple interviews, and has a good shot at being hired by a company he approached at a job fair. I made it to the final round for an internship with a company I made contact with at a job fair.
In other words they're not a total waste of time, especially if you focus on those that you match up well with. |
