Would someone like to explain how Obama's policies are NOT socialist?

They can't because it IS SOCIALIST!

Americans have long demonstrated a desire for a mixed economy: some capitalism, some socialism. Many countries, perhaps most, do. What's your problem with that?

This is America you moron. Have you ever heard of limited government? You need Rush for real.

Have you ever heard of Social Security? It's probably the most popular government program in history and is a socialist scheme.

Where does this hate for socialism come from? I understood the desire to destroy communism and fascism but socialism as well? Sure it could lead to situations like the ones we have in horrible places like Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and others, but it can't be all bad can it?

From:

1) People who base their political careers at least in part on the idea that Socialism is a "danger to our country" and they must be elected to protect us from it.

2) People who have substantial economic power which would be at least in part erroded by the introduction of more Socialism.

3) People who partake in a certain subculture which has been shaped by the actions of those in the previous two groups and now accept that Socialism is evil as a kind of dogma.

4) Intelligent people who see examples of bad government intervention and, as a result, come to believe governments can fundamentally not be trusted or relied upon to regulate beneficently and thus should be extremely limited in their capabilities and powers. These are the individuals who tend to put forth the arguments the other three groups default to in defense of their position.

Fearing socialism is reasonable. Fearing social democracy or the social market isn't. When these tea baggers run around fearing Obama, they're just being stupid. A clarification of terms would help them out. And anyways, Obama is merely continuing the generational theft pushed by Bush. Not that that makes it right.
