Lets see, the Clinton caught the first W.T.C. bombers. Clinton launched a missle attack to kill Bin Ladin and a bombing raid in Sudan to kill him. The Bush camp ignored the C.I. A. warning that terrorist were intent on using civilian airliners to attack cities. They ignore the warnings of richard Clarke one of the most respected intelligence analyst in Washington.

Asking if almost drowning, being placed in a coffin sized space with out light being put in painful stress positions for hours is torture is to put it mildly sir sickening. But lets ask Senator John MCcain about it. He has called it torture. I consider Him an authority sir ! I consider John Woo and jay Bybee as cheapjack oppurtunist who would waterboard their own children if it would advance their careers. Other non-tortures according to your stipulations would be the SS , the NKVd, the East German Stassi! A select group for sure!! I prefer George Wshington's stand on torture (he opposed it) to Heinreich Himmler's!

It's easy to be noble, rollo, when you are confronted with the decision. Yes, John McCain knows about torture firsthand, but what he endured is hardly comparable. As much as I respect him and his bravery, he might also be overly influenced by his painful memories. That said, who knows what he might of done under similar circumstances.

You are cherry picking the 9-11 Commission Report.

Equating Nazi torture techniques with waterboarding is beyond unfair. You, sir, have no sense of proportionality like most histrionic Leftists. Not to mention the willingness to put things in their proper context.

Waterboarding was used against high profile known terrorist enablers. It was not used at random. It did come with directives. Doctors were present. Torture is a provocative term no matter how it is used. Most bleeding hearts can't get beyond the images it conjures up for them.

Let's wait and see what comes out with the rest of the memos.

I'd rather have these punks undergo the sensation of drowning than be responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians any day.

Oh, btw, the claim by some on the Left that we executed Japanese who used waterboarding is a distortion of facts. We executed them for other forms of torture and maiming, even severing limbs. Waterboarding was an incidental charge and so the claim is disingenuous or uninformed.

The U.S. defeated the Japanese empire and helped defeat the German war machine without torture. That is the America that i believe in.
I believe that we are better than that. Much better!

I do agree with one thing you write we need to see more memos. I understand that you dont think it was torture that if a doctor is present it's okay. You do know about what some German and japanese doctors were involved in in WWII.

This demeans America! it puts us with tinhorn dictators and the thugs of the world.

You called them punks I agree! But think carefully how muchof this is about getting information and how much is about getting payback of some kind. Sure they hurt us but we are tough we hit back but we dont get down into the sewer. Not the America I love!
