Im trying to get a job this summer and am currently with 2 recruiters based in two different countries. I want to get as much exposure as possible, and I felt like the first agency wasnt very pro-active and hence chose another one.

Iv read that you shouldnt have too many recruiters because schools arent overly impressed when presented with your details from many sources. So i was just wondering, when people applied to go over to Korea, how many recruiting agencies did they sign up with, and how many is too many?

anything over 257 is a bit to high. (unless you are going for epik which onlt allows one)

Are you saying you're trying to get jobs in two different countries or that your recruiters are based in two different countries but you're aiming to teach in korea?

If you're looking for public school jobs it could backfire on you because some programs like SMOE will reject you if you have more than one recruiter.

Thanks for the prompt reponses... what i meant was that the recruiters were based in different countries, but i want to work in Korea. Sorry i didnt make that clear enough.

I am looking for public schools however, and do intend to apply to SMOE so maybe i need to give the first agency (which in all fairness is doing nothing for me) a quick email and get off their books. Thats put the fear of God in me now, i really dont want to jeopadise my position with regards to applying to public schools!!!

I have heard that SMOE will hold it against you if they receive multiple applications from you. So taking steps to ensure that they only receive one would be a good bet.

Are you aware that you need to submit a couple of things to get an interview (2 letters of rec, a resume, a picture), and not just an application? So if you have sent all of these things to different recruiters, they can all request interviews for you, which SMOE will piss on.

EPIK does not hold multiple applications against you. They will accept the first one they get, and ignore the other ones that come in.

Im not with the other agency anymore. So it is just the one! So that should be ok.

I wasnt aware of what i needed to submit to get the interview, thanks for the heads up. I have all the other documentation required, degree and criminal check with apostille, transcripts etc, so thats what the recruiters have. But hopefully now that im only with the one, it shouldnt harm my chances anymore.

I would think that if a recruiter is interested in working with a prospective teacher that they would request other documents after the initial cover letter/email or resume/CV. The fact that a recruiter doesn't ask for more information or documents shows that they are not interested - for whatever reason - or are overwhelmed with other applicants or perhaps just not doing their job.

Personally I don't want to submit tons of my personal information - until - I know that a recruiter is going to actually do something to place me in a job.

Of course recruiters work for the schools interests and their own - not the teacher - but if a recruiter isn't responding to your requests for information from them - or keep doing bait and switch tactics - then it is time to move on IMO.

I also believe that multiple submissions to gepik and epic are acceptable.

SMOE only accepts one.

Do you get to choose which agent you work with at a recruiters?

Recruiters usually have multiple agents and the prospective teacher is just randomly assigned.
