If I want to watch Notre Dame and Florida State football games in the fall, what's my best bet? I believe I read that Korea doesn't have NBC but there is an ABC affiliate there. However, even if that's right, I doubt they show football games. Is JustinTV my best bet? Can I order ESPN GamePlan (which won't have NBC games) in Korea? Can I watch NBC online somehow in Korea? Satellite? Foreign bars? Anybody know?

You'll have to watch it online. Koreans know nothing about the NCAA or NFL except a little about Hines Ward.

SeminoleDoug - Florida St. I was wondering about this myself. A country that knows very little about the most complex game in the world is lacking in education as far as I'm concerned!

CBS streamed every NCAA game live on their March Madness website. It was a godsend.

Dunno about football yet, but I'm sure you can catch it online and if you can find a nearly deserted bar you might be able to convince them to throw it up on a projection screen Smile

I can suggest two alternatives as I was in the same boat last season (and am a Florida alum, Go Gators!)

The first option is the Slingbox. If you have someone in the states who:
1. Has a wireless internet connection and digital cable
2. Has a little time to spare for setting it up

There is no monthly fee for the Slingbox; the only cost is the buying the device and the internet/cable bill (which one will get in any case, with or without the box). Go to their web site - they can explain it better than I can.

The second option is TVU networks. Get TV from all around the world, US included. However, I think one is limited to two US network stations in Philly and L.A. You have Spike, SciFi, and other cable channels though. Do a Google for that one, too. TVU is just a program that you install on your computer and is free, but you get pop-ups every now and again.

If you dont mind waiting a few hours (with the time diff you're probably teaching during the games anyways) there's a torrent website called ten yard torrents that is awesome. It has high def torrents up a few hours after games end and the site is spoiler free

ESPN Gameplan is offered online in Korea. There are also tons of sites such as http://www.channelsurfing.net/ that always stream games. For the most part you can find games online, its just a matter of staying up or waking up early to watch them.

I can't speak for college football, but I can vouch for the NFL HD GamePass....it cost $240 last year, but was worth every penny. You can watch the games whenever you want....and it's so easy and the quality is so great that you'll end up watching quite a few games every week as opposed to fighting through a crappy P2P feed for your favorite team.

I will never watch an illegal NFL feed again, not due to morality but because the HD GamePass is truly that much better than the free feeds that you have to fight to find....do the math and $240 is like $15/week...well worth the money for a real quality product if you like watching football. Hell, just being able to watch at your leisure is worth it alone.

Plus, depending on your TV and laptop it isn't hard at all to send the feed to your TV. I just use the cable from my digital camera to run from my headphones jack to the red/white RCA audio inputs on the TV, then you connect an S-Video cable between the laptop and the TV and then extend your desktop onto the TV.

The best deal I've found is www.officialtvsports.com - they provide links to everything broadcast on web tv for about twenty-two dollars a year.

I've seen a Pittsburgh Steelers (Hines Ward) game on at 4 AM before that was on one of the cable sports channels.

Part of the problem is the sheer time difference between the US and Korea. If you want to watch most games you have to get up in the middle of the night (at least for NFL games).

The NFL GamePass is though Yahoo and honestly I wouldn't give a dime of my money to them. Most of the free sites are pure crap.

Honestly, while I was a huge NFL fan back in the states, I've given it up due to the fact that watching it here is just not possible time and money wise.

I wouldn't waste my time watching FSU play. A couple years from now the games you tried so hard to watch this year will probably be forfeited retroactively.
