Well, this could be one of two things:
(1) either another prank, this time somebody pretending to be a nine-year-old girl who likes Jon Huer, or
(2) a nine-year-old girl who likes Jon Huer.
Either way, it's not good. |

OMFG, someone cache that article somewhere before some reporter who's not retarded gets the KT to ax it. That is bloody unbelievable.
...a nine-year-old using ' typically boring matters'. |

Ha! These Mickey-Mouse newspapers will print anything! Even obvious pranks!
They really need a clearing out and get some serious editing staff in. But I guess the budget must be tiny..... |

Hahahaha. Cmon, now. Whoever keeps [mod edit] with the non-native speakers needs to stop. It's getting downright mean taking advantage of their inability to tell a real nine year old from a guy in his 20's/30's who gets off on his fake editorials being published. |

Nice try.. there's no way a 9 year old could've written that. It reads like an adult trying - but failing miserably - to pretend to be a young person. |

I concur. As a reformed serial prankster of our two beloved English dailies myself (back in the pre-Internet days, when all the cool kids were doing it) I feel I must weigh in on this. The skillful prankster will always maintain at least the veneer of plausibility. Oh, and that kid's name & photo? C'mon, we want silly, not creepy in our pranks. |

Well, you know why I call it the Korean Soju Times. You might as well be drink and send in letters to the editor or read them. It will look better that way..... I am not much of a drinker, so I might as well avoid the rag. |

I wonder if they were trying to present what a foreigner might believe was a nine-year-old or a KT editor. If the latter, they proved that perhaps there's no limit. |

I think Huer is an excellent writer. He always makes his point very clear, and keeps it as interesting as possible. He makes typically boring matters sound exciting and readable. I love his articles!

This gives it away...
no way a 9 year old girl wrote that...
I think Jon wrote it......
FUNNY thing is - if you "google" the 9-year old girls email address - (eparker89@gmail.com)
you find that a person called eparker89 (avatar name) also uses gmail ([email protected]) at this site - http://www.afterdawn.com/search/search_results.cfm?cx=007976064430744583596%3Aiixdheoudzk&cof=FORID%3A11&q=eparker89#1191 where although the "89" in the name may suggest the person was born in 1989 - the person is obviously a fully-grown-developed-adult - because of the technical stuff they are discussing

anyone with a single brain cell and native English skills spots that as a trick article from the get go.
the snide rips inside are so obvious (and amusing)
but you know what.. I took less issue with that Huer article than I did with most of the crap he writes.
English is definitely FAR more egalitarian and you DO speak to most people around you, (no matter how "old" they are in pretty much the same way)
BUT even if korean is completelyd different (which it is) why would that concept be so difficult for a learner to grasp? |

It is not likely the article was written by Jon himself.
I guess the person who wrote this just wanted to be cynical and sarcastic, what he really wanted to say is: Jon, your article were hypocritical and ridiculous , Korean Times, please stop posting his articles.
Then he must have laughed his ass off by knowing that KT didnt get his sarcasm at all, instead they seriously made his article published~!!!
What a stupid media...do people actually read KT? ( I dont and I wont let such an idiot media f*** my brain) |

loved the iht, personally.
unfortunately, it's been folded up and incorporated into the nyt "global" edition which is a very very POOR substitute. |
