|

My flight for Korea is booked and I have a 6 hour layover in Tokyo. I've never been to Japan. Should I attempt to do anything (i.e. go to any places near the airport) during this layover or just hang out in the terminal?
I had a 6 hour layover in Vegas once and managed to hit the strip for 2 hours and shoot some dice. It was cool but I didn't want to leave (to the less exciting Salt Lake City).
Anyhow, suggestions? You never really know when you'll make it back places!
P.S. I have no comprehension of Japanese. |

Your layover isn't in Tokyo, it is in Narita. It is quite far from the city for such a short layover. I am sure you could get out and look around Narita though. I think it all depends on how fast you can get through immigration. Last time I was there, the immigration line took almost an hour. Just remember, you need minimum 1 hour before your flight to get through immigration, so at most, you are only going to have 4 hours. |

Yeah, you're actually over an hour outside Tokyo (an a $30 train ride each way), so Tokyo isn't really an option.
I've only spent a bit of time in Narita, but if you're interested in temples you could check out Narita-san. I visited while I waited for my plane once. It's not bad, nothing spectacular though.

You can actually travel by train for about $15 (1,280 yen) with the current crappy exchange rate. But it takes over an hour, so not really doable on such a tight schedule. Like farrepatt said though, maybe you can check out Narita. |

You won't have enough time to check out Tokyo but 6 hours is more than enough time to check out Narita. I've done it on a 4 hour layover. The main town is about 2 train stations away from the airport. There's a nice temple there you can walk around and you can eat at a local restaurant. |
