|
|
Hi,
I upload a bunch of videos to YouTube for www.eatyourkimchi.com and www.youtube.com/simonandmartina Today, when I tried to upload, I was told that YouTube Korea now has some real-name law in force.
I switched countries and uploaded to Canada, since I'm Canadian, but I'd like to keep on uploading to the Korean channel. Anyone know what I can do?

Hi Simon,
As far as I know, Google has intentionally stopped the ability to upload on Youtube-Korea. Here's an article discussing it.
Quote: |
Google has disabled user uploads and comments on the Korean version of its YouTube video portal in reaction to a new law that requires the real name of a contributor be listed along each contribution they make.
The rules, part of a Cyber Defamation Law, came into effect on April 1 for all sites with over 100,000 unique visitors per day. It requires that users provide their real name and national ID card number.
In response to the requirements Google has stopped users from uploading via its Korean portal rather than start a new registration system. |
For now, uploading to another country, as you did with Youtube-Canada, is the only way to get around the block.

All the videos on youtube in Canada should be viewable on youtube in Korea.
Just change the country setting and tell Korean censors to fark themselves. |

I was kind of floored when I could no longer post on youtube. I found a way to get around as the fellows said, but it didn't look good that the Korean Government started this police state type action. It's not good for the nation's image, but, then again, neither were some of the netizens who sometimes went overboard. I can understand why the law was put in place. The government wants to regulate the behavior of the people, because they want to have a certain image put out there. |

I see. I thought there would be a way to enter my name and verify or whatnot, but I guess I'm wrong.
Thanks. |

www.eatyourkimchi is a excellently designed and executed site. Good work. |

I've just today discovered what the 'real name verification law' is. No...I think it's a nutty law. You can't regulate morality. Is Korea trying to go the way of Red China?
Anyway.......I read that there's supposedlly a way to get into the YouTube sites for other countries. But I don't know how to do that. When I type in www.youtube.com , I get blocked.
What's the URL for some of those other youtube sites that I can upload to?
I can also let you know that www.tubemogul.com is one way of getting a video on YouTube. Tube Mogul, which is free, distributes to about 22 video sharing sites. YouTube is only one of them.
But it would be simpler to just find a YouTube site that would take my videos (there's not that many).
Regards,

You just go to the bottom of the page and on "location" change it to "worldwide". It's really not a hassle at all. It just makes you reload the page... |

I will do it as well. I want to tell Bundang Bear what I really think of him and his videos. |
