|
|
I've been watching a lot of streamed TV in the last few months via Sidereel and Surfthechannel. It seems that Megavideo is by far the best provider of streamed content, but the 72 minute limit is driving me crazy. I'm considering paying to avoid the limit (seeing I watch it a lot), but just want to check if anyone else has done it and if it's worth doing.

I almost did it because I liked their service. The only payment option I could use was through paypal, but then paypal turned stupid on me by then claiming they thought someone was hacking my account (because I was now contacting them from Korea), so they refused to let my $15.00 payment go through. They then demanded that I receive a letter from them back in the United States (my official address that paypal HAD for me) and then use the code from the letter to substantiate I was who I am. They refused to give me any other option for doing so. I tried to explain that I do not live in the US anymore, and that I have no family or other address that I can use there. They wouldn't let me switch my address to Korea either. So, my $15 is stuck in paypal, I can't access it, and I can't use it to pay for megavideo.
But if you can find a way to make payments to megavideo, I really think they're worth it and apologize for the long dissertation; I'm just peeved about it because I really wanted to use their service. |

Done it, then did it again after the first 3 months. Worth it, not just for all the comprehesible shows, but because you get a megaupload membership bundled. The value of that really depends on how big a geek you are. I'm a big one... If you happen to have a modded console, it's a mircle service.
Edit: Also, there are a shitton of streamable movies. Which is nice. |

You didn't verify your account before you left?
I did that all back home. When I got over here..on about my 3rd or 4th transaction I get an email saying my account was locked for security purposes. They would "contact me" when it was done. All I had to do was log in and verify my bank account number which was partially obscured in the account. Once done I got an email saying the security check was done, account was fine. Inconvenienced me for all of about 5 minutes. |

Thanks for the kind thought. It's not going to be resolved because Paypal won't let it be resolved. Instead, they keep sending me automated messages telling me that I need to verify my address in order to get off limited status (meaning I can't spend any money in that account nor access any of my money). I just gave up on them as I rarely used Paypal anyway; only intended to use it because Megavideo uses that to run its credit cards (and their other process didn't work).
It's not that important. Hope your account works well. My problem was never with Megavideo, so I have nothing negative to say about them. |

I've heard so many complaints about Paypal like that, but never had issues as I'd been actively using their services for years. I only hope I don't run into these issues as Paypal is very valuable in paying for Gmarket with US dollars and it came handy paying American based airlines as I don't have a credit credit card. It's also so handy to shop eBay when home. Been good to me for like 5 or 6 years. I just hope no issues arise.
I'm ordering mom flowers delivery for Mothers Day using Paypal. My account has been verified with social security # and via a savings account. Account verification might be the issue many are having with Paypal as I've heard so many complaints like this, but luckily I'm not having issues. |

This may not be from Paypal. This is a very common phishing method thieves use. The e-mail will say it's from Paypal and have all the logos and links, but when you click on one it will send you elsewhere where you're supposed to enter your information. Then your info (and MONEY) becomes someone elses!
I also don't use Paypal, but have gotten several of these phoney e-mails. Beware.
If you must verify anything, always go straight to the Paypal site (type it manually, never click on links) and take it from there. |

There is an actual verification process. It involves your savings account, a letter and a phone call. First they deposit 2 random small amounts to your account and ask you to tell them what it is (to prove you have access to the account)
Then they send you a snail mail letter with a pin code to verify your home address.
Then they have an automatic machine call you and tell you a pin code to verify your phone number. |
