Yes, I meant 2 years! Not making sense is catchy.
I don't always have problems. The current co-teacher and I have got on pretty well. I cannot kiss you-know-what, I also enjoy my own company. |

If her husband visits Barber shops she might still need the vibrator. |

I don't think my co-teacher likes Bowie.
WHAT SHOULD I BUY HER?
You can tell I'm bored, the trombone type music is playing outside, glad I'm not there. Whoops, different thread. |

I hate them, yucky. There's a cake shop on the way to school. I may buy her a big cake, to share with her family. |

Gimme your views: One particular Korean colleague at work who can't stand me, simply because I don't speak to her, sometimes walks into our office.
Before she leaves, she appears to say unpleasant things about me to my co-teacher, because I don't speak to her.
My co-teacher doesn't join in, but she kind of diplomatically affirms what my 'enemy' says. I suppose my co-teacher wants to have a good working environment with her fellow Koreans, or perhaps she fears her colleagues, and feels obliged to at least agree to their unkind comments about me.
She wouldn't want to side with the lone foreigner, she's not stupid.
I suspect it is a bit of both.
My co-teacher has given me things to eat here and there, some of it is from the school i.e cake, and some of it is her own stuff i.e. sweets, rice cakes, a biscuit etc.
Stay on topic please. My co-teacher has been quite helpful, and I have also helped her.
Should I buy her a leaving gift, or leave it, seeing as she has shown a measure of agreement when my 'enemy' launches indirect verbal attacks, instead of condemnation (no Korean would do that).
Thank you in advance. Yes, it's trivial, but that's me. |

If your co-teachers are still youngish, get them Krispy Kreme donuts. They love um and are very thankful. |

I think I've made a decision. I'm not going to buy her anything. She is the best co-teacher so far, but like her predecessors she bad mouthes me a bit with the students.
It's sad how childish my co-teachers have been. They tell me I'm popular, look jealous, resent that I do a good job, and seem to think the only way they can 'get back at me' for always being civil and polite, is to talk badly about me with the students.
How kind.
I've worked fairly hard for 2 years at this school, they've not been particularly helpful, overall.
The least they could do is give me a good reference, which my new co-teacher did.
She is nervous because she has an open class coming up and I believe the next native teacher may not be able to arrive in time for it.
On the last day, I will thank my co-teacher for her help. But I won't have a slimey grin on my face when I do it.
The next native teacher has worked with Koreans in North America, and she tells me they used to bad mouthe her there.
Oh well, at least I'm not totally paranoid.
My conclusion is there are quite a few Korean co-teachers who genuinely don't want us here, unless we really kiss up.
If offering me rice cakes leads them to conclude it is acceptable to show me small signs of disrespect, they are dumber than they look.
They are jealous and not very nice.
I intend to see this job through without any trouble. I have 3 days next week to complete and that's it. I will say goodbye to the Principal briefly on my last day.
That's my view. |
