No, in 50 years your grandkid is going to say, "Hey Grandpa! What is a Republican? Are they the ones who wore silly mustasches, gave funny salutes and ran the economy into the ground?" |
Hey buttmunch, Obama voted for the budget. The Congress has the purse strings, and it has been Left-wing since 2006. |

Obama wasn't privy to this decision. And as for New Yorkers, well, they need to get a grip. |
How in the hell can the President not know? |
On the other hand, how can the President possibly know every single thing done by his administration? Obviously it's reasonable to expect him to know the vast majority of it, but when it comes to trivial things like photo opportunities of airplanes, is it that surprising no one would mention it to him? |

yes, and the left wing congress has certainly had their way since 2006. when you're finished the alternate-history novel you're writing, please let me know. your posts foreshadow a real page-turner. |

Too bad the same benefit of the doubt was NEVER accorded Bush when he was in office. But one would think that flying a jetliner near the site of the WTC would have lit a bulb that maybe in might be a good idea to inform the President and mayor just in case. Nothing trivial about it under the circumstances.
And while I'm on the subject of Bush and Obama, the former always had the class and reserve not to enter the media fray. The same cannot be said for the latter despite his insistence on looking forward. Just the other day he took yet another swipe at Fox News, without mentioning it by name, during a townhall meeting. Not much Lincolnesque about that. Methinks Obama doesn't have a thick skin, either. Too used to being adored, it would appear. |

That is a good point. However, I wished that Bush would have addressed the media about their tactics, agenda and policy. He allowed the media to walk all over him..................freedom of the press, I suppose. But, freedome without responsibility causes a lot of harm.

You are asking this question either to keep up an arguement for no reason at all............or you (not to sound insulting) really don't konw what is going on.
I could provide examples.......ANYONE could. But, I don't have the time or the strength to do it right now.

don't worry about insulting me dmbfan. i doubt you ever could.
i was asking because your posts tend to contain extremely broad generalizations. pardon my selfishness in wanting a little more info.
you seem to agree with ManInTheMiddle quite a bit. perhaps you could take a look at his posts and learn a few things from them. while it seems i don't agree with him on many things, he gives us an opinion and then backs that opinion up with an interesting argument comprising of facts. He also seems willing to consider the facts that others supply.
for all of our benefit, please do the same. |

Wow......well, whatever keeps you going, I suppose.
Yes, I do agree with ManintheMiddle quite often. However, one thing I have learned from watching many of these poasters here is no matter how many facts you give, if you are not a crazy loony liberal....then you are scorned.
I post articles in which I think are interesting. If anyone wants to know how feel about it, then all anyone has to do is ask. I do give providesome
It is obvious that the majority of the poasters here are liberal. Some can have discussion without spreading hate and their crazed loony ideologue on those who don't agree. Even when ManintheMiddle provides objective informaiton, he is still attacked.
If you can't seriously conceede to the fact that the far left liberal media seroiusly had it out for Bush.....and you require an example then I'm wondering you honestly know what was going on in the "journalism" aspect in America. Again, not an insult.
I could provide you thousands of examples.........but I'm not here to change your mind

Some of that "scorning" behavior goes on on both sides of the political spectrum here. For instance, in the very segment of your post I just quoted, the term crazy loony liberal is not exactly free of scorn.

When I am speaking in defense of Liberal thought I often feel the opposite, honestly. Very few posters here seem willing to stand up and prolongedly defend Liberal policy in the face of the comparatively large group of Conservatives on this board, a number of whom are both quite well read and very willing to engage. |

True. But I also said that there are liberals who can indeed have a dicussion without attacking anyones character, on the board. So, if you want to fair about it, then I suppose you give a yellow card to the home team.

OK........out of curiosity, what IS your defenition of Liberal Thought? What has shaped your opinions? But, I will give you a point on that one. Most of the "liberals" here are not capable of going beyond the constant character attack. They are not able to really show WHY they beleive in their said, thought.
I'll say the same for some of the "conseratives" on the board as well.

Liberal Philosophy, in the sense that I use it, maintains that the government beyond the minimum required for society to function can have a positive impact on people's lives and shouldn't be limited to the minimum required for society to function. I know that is an extremely simplified explanation, but I don't have time for more right now.

My time is extremely limited since I have to catch a bus shortly, so I'll give you a one liner with a promise to expand on it after I get back from my long weekend. Compassion for people and concern with the actions of big business shaped my opinions.
If that is unsatisfactory I'll write more next week. As much as I like to pontificate, I need to go. |
