Hey expats,
Having fin in this humid mess we call summer? Thank goodness for air conditioning. I'm from the American South...which would have never been fully settled without AC. I digress.

Next week, I'm going to Seoul for my 29th birthday. Hurray. I'm looking for some good Brazilian style or western style restaurants (even VIPS) to got to. I heard of Ipanema in City Hall, but don't know if it's still open because I called..and I get a weird answering service. Please recommend some buffets in Seoul that are around Yoido or at least in Seoul (including contact/website info). Even Hotel buffets are fine. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know much about Brazillian buffet, but happy birthday and what not. I'm from the American south, but not South America. There's tons of buffet places in Seoul. Do you work with any Korean people? Ask them. They could probably direct you to a fine establishment at which to feast your southern ass off.

If money is no object, and it shouldn't be on a birthday, then hit the buffet on the first floor of the 63 Building at Yeouido. The restaurant is huge, the selection is incredible, and the quality is excellent. I was there last year and I think it was around 50 bucks, not including beverages. Highlights included the giant tuna that a chef would carve to give you sashimi, the lobster stuffed mushrooms, prime rib (cooked perfectly to medium rare), and the chocolate fountain for dessert. Happy Birthday!

I live in Bundang and my Brazilian colleague (has dual citizenship actually) swears that (and I've been there too many times) that Brazilia is the best Brazilian food that he's tasted in Korea. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from Sohyeon Station, practically beside the SK gas station. It's about 25000 or 28000 won but they bring you all you can eat different slices of meat on a big skewer and there is a small buffet you go serve yourself. Definitely worth checking out.............

There's another Brasilia in Gangnam. From Gangnam stn (line 2), go out exit 6 and walk straight. It's about 3/4 of the way to the next big intersection at Kyobo Tower on the left. Never been there but heard good things.
